Finally some progress that can be seen. No more sanding for me, first coat of primer is on. I will leave rest of the prep work for paint to painter(I still hate sanding). Things look like I won´t be driving this summer maybe next year...... I hope.
I have to let the cat out of the bag for those who haven't seen all the work that's gone into this car. Yes, it's chopped...and the fact that it's not super obvious is a GREAT compliment...this is going to be a beautiful CUSTOM... here's the build: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v335/blown348/project50/ I especially dig the tail-lights. Nice work. Bryan
W O W !!!! I have a '49 and was looking at the first pictures and thinking "damn that looks good. BUT THEN... I see those build pictures.... I guess you just don't realize all the hard work that goes into some cars if you don't get to really see "the build" looks GOD DAMN GOOD!!!...Ken
Great work! Only problem is it makes me want to run right home and get out the sawzall ! I have been kicking around chopping my 50 Pontiac since I saw the article on the 49 Cad chop in Street Rod Builder - this just makes me more anxious. Thanks for the inspiration.
Very purrty, thanks for sharing. BTW what are these taillights? They look like '41 studebakers. I've been drooling over those for a little while. Hope you don't mind me blatently duplicating you work
Taillights are 1/3 of late ´90 Fiat Brava. Chop is actually 3" front, 4"rear. It will be painted in one single color from BMW(with half mattefinish), same as seen in dash. BTW, thanks for kind words glad you like it
Thank you! Very nice fab work. Looks like you wont have to worry about me stealing your idea, took me all morning to find a picture of a '98 Brava They wern't imported to the states.
that thing is beautifull! what did you use for the grill surround? that is by far my fav part of the whole car.
Grille surround is made from 10mm roundbar. I just bolted grille to it´s place and then bend the bar to fallow the shape of the grille. Then filled the gap with sheetmetal so nothing fancy there.
Nice work! Makes me glad I saved the rear quarters, roof & windsheild from my '50 Fleetline. Some day I'd like to mate it to a '54 Bel-Air.
That car will be a stand out in a croud, keep up the good work, and keep us posted. Man I love fastbacks, they are the coolest of all, and they are disappearing.Good job man. Take care, Rags
Sorry, no good detail pics on headlights. They are made in same fashion as grille surrounding. Bolted ´55 chevy lightrings in place and then bended 10mm roundbar over it so it fallows rings shape and filled the cap. This is best pic I have from headlights. You can see the fillerpeace in place.
Wow this car looks great! Taillights are very cool......kinda makes me sad I sold mine but had to free up cash to get something done!
