    I picked up a neat book the other day,its called"507 Mechanical movements,mechanisms,and devices",by Henry T. Brown.
    ISBN# 0-486-44360-4.
All kinds of neat illustrations, albeit small,of all kinds of monkey motion gizmos.

On the back it lists:Basic Machines and How they Work,Naval Education and Training Program Development Center.
A Short History of Technology:From the Earliest Times to A.D. 1900.

Engineering and Technology,1650-1750:Illustrations and Texts from Original Sources.
    Check out:

Should find some useable stuff from these sources.

WHEW! That is a lot of typing for my non-typing ass!

  2. I hope this helps....

OK guys, dug some stuff out of storage. This is from a P-51B/C Flight manual. It's an original manual I liberated from the trash at North American. They printed two types of these, an 8 1/2 x 11 version for ground study and a smaller 5 x 7 version to be carried in the aircraft. I have the smaller version for both the P-51 and a B-15J bomber. I'll scan and post images until you all get sick of seeing them.

This is a foldout right at the beginning of the manual. I remember hearing the original artwork was given to one of the executives when he retired.

    This is the title page.

Radio system illustration. They used color sparingly but with good effect.

They also led off every section with a cartoon. Hard to believe this is a military tech manual.

Here are some from the B-25J Flight manual. Sorry, no big cutaway in this one.

    Omega,

I was looking for that drawing a few months ago. That was the Auto Union "supercar" that was based on the GP cars. It was never built. The inspiration for the McLaren F1???

    Cheers,
    Kurt

    Bump.

Found these and remembered this thread. This is from the English magazine Aeroplane 1956. They would run one of these illustrations each edition. Love the artwork. Hope you enjoy them like I do.
