I think I read on here somewhere that the later uprights could be used to lower the early cars about 1"....ring a bell to anyone? Thanks
i didnt know that that later spindles could be swapped for the earlier ones. and you say it lowers it 3/4-1 inch? would you be able to get 2.75-3 inches if you used the dropped spindles for the 53-54 on the 49-52? thats a spindle swap that might be worth it! (i dont know if the 53-54 has dropped spindles either)
You don't put lowered spindles on them, it's the uprights that you change. There's no such thing as a dropped spindle for a '49-'54 Chevy.
ok now i really feel like a dumbass. i just assumed that when everyone was talking about "uprights", that they were talking about the spindles... ill shut up now, haha
Well, not to dredge up an old post, but I was doing a search and found this post and was wondering the same thing. Has anyone ever put dropped 53-54 uprights on a 49-52? Was the result even more drop that just dropped 49-52 uprights? And yes aal the catalogs I've looked at show dropped 53-54 uprights, and show 2-2.5 inches of drop also. Thanks Drew
The aftermarket or dropped uprights all lower the car the same amount...the OEM uprights on a 53-54 are 1 inch lower the the earlier ones, after Buffalo modifies them they are all the same,Fatmans are fabbed are the are all the same also,go with Buffs,$250 exchange and you DO NOT need modified steering arms
I know this is an older thread but dose anyone know the casting numbers for the 53 54 spindle uprights? thanks Don
