Im looking for some new 51 4 door merc rocker panels does anyone know if these are good? if not do post a link to where I can get some good ones please = ) thanks http://store.shermanparts.com/cgi-bin/sherman/product_list.html?img_num=523
Tokyo is probably thinking 70's when he should be thinking 50's- 50's mercs didn't have rocker trim, neither did most (fords) at the time.
He means their just the "outer" rocker, and looks like probaly the outer half of the door sill. If you inner rockers are rusted out you'll need to either fab or buy those seperately....
thanks for the info. Could you hep me out though? do you have any pics of the inner and outer rockers just so i know the difference! thanks so much
I just found these! how do you know whats good or not? http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ProductBrowse/showCustom-0/makeName-Mercury/makeId-55/modelName-Mercury/modelId-1598/year-/showAll-1/N-+200728958/refId-20004514/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2000356/c-10101/p-2000356/tf-Browse/s-10101
The outer rocker is the part you can see, the inner rocker is the backside of it that goes up & joins the floor. Usually if one is rusted out so is the other. When I did the rocker on my old 50 shoebox I bought new outers, and made new inners out of some 14 gauge.
Nah, crawl under the car and look at the back side of the rocker panel. That's the inner rocker, just the back wall of the panel.
problem with all aftermarket patch panels is they are made from thin metal and offen do not replace the whole rocker (under fender section) up to the factory pinch welds
