Hey there, I was just wondering if anybody has ever used a 1930 or so Essex 2 door sedan for a project. I have two and was just looking for some ideas...Thanx It'll make your sticker peck out!!!
There is a HAMB member from Moosjaw Saskatchewan building a killer Essex Coupe. (I can't remember his HAMB name.)
Probably not exactly what you had in mind, but here is one that runs around here. It is one fast mofo too!
Thanx guys. What year is the Essex that NitroFC posted? Does anybody know what frame he is using? And like the others, I would like to see pics of the shop truck. Thanx
A friend has bad a 30 sedan on the road for 30 years using a SB Ford/C4 combination. The body is all steel and very well built, plus the frame will take anything.
I have a 4 door 28 and a 2 door 29 with channelling ambitions. There is a guy in Michigan who had a 29 or 30 Essex in the Autorama last year.
At couple of years ago I was going to buy a chopped '32 Essex sedan, but the seller turned out to be a crook of some kind, so the deal got squashed. This was going to be my inspiration for the build...
EVILT knows where he can get a half buried Essex coupe body, that looks like the blue drag car's body. Looked to have a saveable cowl and maybe doors and roof, not sure about rear quarters or deck cause there still buried by debris. We've been talking bout goin and diggin that thing out, just haven't made the time to do it.
I have heard more than once about Essex frames being used under Ford race cars and hot rods back in the 1940's, strong frames.
I've heard that about the Essex frames also. I'll have to see what kind of shape the frames are in once the snow melts, but since they have been dragged around by tractors and such, I'm not being very optimistic. If all else fails, I still have an early 30's or so Model A frame to use. Thanx for all the info by the way, very good source of inspiration.
She's a bit of a fixer upper huh! I think there are a couple 26's at the same farm as my 30's...there aren't as complete as yours.
What a cool example. I'm also not sure what to do with the rear paralell leafs on my 32' Essex. Here is a pic of it sitting and waiting. And a couple pic's of some ol dirt days. Joe
I think a neighbor of mine is doing a 29 Essex sedan with Ford running gear, I'll check on it and let you know.
A friend of mine has an Essex full fendered coupe he built into a vintage circle track car. I'll try to show you a couple of pics tomorrow. It wouldn't take much to put this one back on the street. Jan
