buick Dynaflow trans fluid question

i need to add some fliud to the trans in the Buick. anyone know what type of fluid is best for the trans?

 

Transmission fluid .

 

I think any of the modern GM approved tranny fluids (Dextron III) would be OK.

I use Dextron III in my 55 Buick Special and it works (and leaks) just fine...

 

The old hydramatics/dynaslows used Type A. Which was replaced/superceded by Dexron. Which was replaced/superceded by Mercon.

All this is a llong winded story that you can use Mercon fluid in your old dynalsow. As toystoretom points out, it will leak out just as well as the old Type A.

 

Ive decided to eliminate the middleman, and just pour it directly on the garage floor.

 

use type F in vehicles that required type A and it increases transmission performance (most "racing fluids" are actually made from a type F base).

 

Somebody told me when I asked that the seals in the Dynaflow work as a filter...you never have to change your transmission fluid!!!

 

I didnt put in it yet but I bought atf for my 55 buick
