Well I guess you could call this finished. I like it anyway I hope you do to. I know it doesn't have a straight front axle but not all of them did back when either. I built it as a tribute to Green Valley Drag Strip where my dad ran back in the late 50's and 60's. I like the 348 with the 4 speed setup. Lettering by the great Daddy-o from Denison. Hope to see you guys at Pistons and Paint this weekend. What do you think?

Interesting that you were able to keep a V8 radiator in there, rather than mounting in ahead of the core support in the straight 6 location. How did that work? Is the engine moved back to clear it, or??? The firewall doesn't looked too recessed either, though it does look like you cleared it for at least the passenger side valve cover.
    Awesome car! I'm putting a 480-inch 409 in a '57, and it'll sit about like yours does.

    great car!
my dad also ran there in the late 50's erly 60's.
had a couple '55's. one was white/blue convert. (in case anybody seen him) ;-)
odly enough, the guy that i set next to at work ran a front engine dragster and a '62 409 impala there... and the guy on the other side of him now lives in one of the hoods out there (shame)
thanks for the pix... lookin to see more of it!

  25. I totally agree, Great work guys!

Very nice, Reminds me of when I was in High School, I raced there and I still have my trophies.I was at the last race there.

  27. I like it! Bonus points on the STP stickers. Where did you find those? As a kid in the 60's we thought those were cool. I remember seeing them on cars.

I loved Green Valley. The track had a lot of pit space with great shade trees (important in Texas summer) to pit under and was a great place to race or watch.
