Saw them two years ago,consitered buying them,should have.Many were
probably not restorable but all were complete.
Just all the SS trim would have paid you back..

wow i just did the math on that a hundred dollar bill weighs a gram, there's 453.59237 grams in a pound which equals to $226,796.18....American.

I'm not a Chevy guy, is this a 49? Old dude on the right (no that's not me) said it was a 49.. He also said when he bought it at a sherriff's auction and DROVE it home the trunk was full of "PORNO", which he burned! It was probably high dollar original Betty Page stuff!

Found these yesterday while driving around N. Austin

 

yes thats a 49, a 50 has only two bars on the lower half of the grill, the 51 has none, and the 52 has a finned center bar(with the same suround as the 49-51) 53 had the oval mouth with two lights at the end of a bar that had 3 teeth, and the 54 had a similar bar in the center but the lights wrapped around the fenders.

woulda been cool to see what kinda of titty mags was in there!

 

the crusher??? i think i just shed a tear...... i woulda bought that in a heart beet. my grandfater used to race those. i woulda cleaned it up and painted it and let it be my new lawn orniment at least.(if i couldnt fix it)

 

well, you better go back and buy that desoto grill before someone else does! you should buy it, and put it on ebay or in the hamb classifieds. you just might be able to put your kids through school with the money you make off of it. haha(not really but youll make a nice penny)

get out there bro i worked there last year for plague locust spraying via helicopter and your area and the areas around albury are the best in my opinion for finding tin in the country ,there is some reall good shit on either side of the hume hwy but you cant see most of it from the road so go offer some free labour on a farm and find the shit ,ive got a few points programmed into my gps for A model stuff and have been going back every couple of months and picking stuff up but most of the ford stuff is real rusty but there is plenty of 30s chevs,dodges etc ,we all know henry made good looking cars but he didnt make em to last

Hey, didn't someone post about that 5 window stock car body selling on Ebay last month for $4,500?

 

I found this in the middle of nowhere 4x4ing near an old mining town.

 

So, is it worth dragging home? The old dude has several junkers, the funny thing is that everything is the same price: $1500.00. There was a recently vacated spot next to an old station wagon (yes, $1500.00) and I asked him what had been there... he said a few months ealier he sold a complete, pretty nice 58 pontiac two door hardtop, all glass there etc from the empty spot for.. yep, $1500.00

1500 is to much for that 49. it looks solid from the picture, but its sitting on the ground without wheels, before you do ANY money swaping/bartering- jack up the car and take a GOOD look at that frame. check all the body mounts. bring a breaker bar and a socket set also, check and see if the 216(engine) is frozen and has oil. check the floors and the trunk. if you can, jack up the back(and put it on jack stands or cinderblocks) take the plug out of the rear end, and check for fluid, (stick yer finger down in the pumpkin) after you get some on yer finger; smear it between yer fingers and see if it has any metal shavings in it. if its a manual trans, check the clutch pedal (see if it goes down and comes back up) then make sure it goes through the gears(three on the tree) twords you and down is first, away from you and up is 2nd, away and down is 3rd, twords you and up is reverse. dont push the brakes because they might still work kinda and lock up the drums.

if all that checks out offer him 1000 for it.(if its solid) 4 doors can be cool, heres my old 51 4 door.

Found this '36 in a barn not more than a mile from my house. It had been resting there for almost 50 years. Gorgeous patina underneath all the bird and raccoon shit.

 

yeah i saw that! too bad the only thing you might use is the body... hah looks solid though!
