  1. What a cool car! My (Lanny’s) roadster is in that magazine as well. I’ll have to dig it out tonight! IMG_1305.jpeg

Here you go, the '63 picture was taken at the Berwyn Bearing Busters car show. At a chevy dealer in Lagrange Illinois.

man, you had to have the engine rebuilt? what was wrong with it? I would have thought it would have been gone thru when it got restored?

    Half the engine wasn’t working
rebuild needed new lifters and cam was ground down need new one
need too redo the fuel pump and line
    New starter
one of the 2 carbs wasn’t working so new one
    Brakes needed adjusting and peddle
The transmission is a hydro but gears are messed up
So I have too Manual shift it till the fall until that needs a rebuild
I guess a trailer queen all it’s life
But now I can drive it regularly down the road too car shows ugh

    Hello,

I was trying to draw an El Camino version of my brother’s 1951 Olds sedan and the art work looked like a whirlwind hit it many times over. It was not the easiest thing to do. So, it sits in a folder "waaay" back deep in the files.

Perhaps, I will get it out one day and see what is what in that art works department…

But, in my search for something that may look like an Oldsmobile El Camino, I saw this one. But the first thing I noticed it the original owner took the stock roof line and shortened and lowered it to the body/bed. In doing so, he had the door to deal with and so the top was cut to fit. From the side standing a full car distance away, it looks odd. The proportions of the top somehow got out of whack.

More of the Olds top could have been used to create a better proportion top and either make a larger door to utilize the curved top or add a roll down window like the Corvette.

At least, it would give a well proportioned style and top to go with the long body.

The custom is a good idea and with a longer roof. In 1960, it was certainly a different custom car idea.

A longer roof line gives it a better proportion to fit the long body. If the idea of a longer door is a problem, then option #2…

Window up and second photo, window down with the proportioned longer top. YRMV

Of all the funky historical customs you've gotten your hands on, this one is my favorite. I really like it, I'm glad it's in the hands of someone who really appreciates it's history, and I'm glad you were able to get it's issues worked out, although that sucks and is surprising it needed so much work to be driveable, it seemed like such a quality resto job.
