I 'm sorry I see this B.S. as a joke just using us as pawns for the promoters/tribes, suckering us into thinking we are part of some fantastic money maker for the casino, nothing more.. The Web has (2) screens of crap like this promoting some TV personality also. (Google Muckleshoot Carshow) Notice the $45.00 entry fee, Ouch. I 've been showing since '89 when buying my Rivi and have never witnessed anything so outlandish. Yes it great to get our pride joy recognized and appreciated, but I draw the line when I'm being communalized for someone elses profit.
Casino’s always have a draw you in policy. Maybe if they had $5.00 Prime Rib Dinner like back in the day you’d be happier.
Sounds like a fun event to me. At least there should be a lot of cars to wander around and look at. Not many will be what we are about here on the HAMB, but that doesn't mean they won't be worth seeing. And, yes, the entry fee is $45...... but they are giving out $5200 in prize money and giveaways as well. It's not cheap to run an event like this in this day and age.
Better than paying a $90 registration fee for a good guys event. Just be one of the first two hundred and get the shirt, it would cost you the same price as the registration if you bought one. It’s like getting the registration for free at that point lol
The truth. Then I will delete my bias post above still believing I'm correct. This gets political so it may not survive monitoring, and that is okay also Casinos are of course owned/operated by Native Americans who are privy, and per special fishing rights, (granted by Richard Nixon in 1974), through a specially appointed buddy, federal judge buddy, decimated most Steelhead runs in most inland rivers in the state of Washington. I was an officer, (Steelhead Committe Chair) with Trout Unlimited, (Steelhead are ocean going rainbow trout who return to their native river to spawn weighing at 8 to 20 pounds). I/We fought the so call Boldt decision in courts, in print, on TV, radio in the US supreme Court and the civic clubs of the surrounding counties. The NA's by this decision were self regulating, co-managers and originally allow 100% of the entire run except for escapement for perpetuation of the species. Making their own rules and methods meant fishing with gill nets when & how they wanted with limit. Oh, at first there was forced regs by the courts but that soon dwindled because of lies on their catch numbers because of lack of tribal enforcement. I should point out here that all tribes across this nation soon were granted the same rights no matter where they were in the nation. Our Chapters here in state appealed with the state, spending almost two hundred thousand dollars on lawyers and lost three times and so now the tribes run the states Salmon and Steelhead departments. I Do not frequent the Casino's. All this lasted from 1974 to 1983 for me when my 1st wife took a hike withe Wherehouse men and I lost my job, took a year off and started going to cruse-ins in Tacoma and stopped fishing completely except for Alaska, Got back on with Boeing, spent time in Bethpage NY, (Long Island) for Boeing as Field Engineer at Grumman aircfaft, came home bought the Rivi, met Jan, found the HAMB amd here I be
There are several casinos around me . There are bridges that have been built in the county that have plaques on them reading. Funding for this project was donated by a certain Tribe . I’m thinking where does the Tribe get its money? From the Federal Government. Where does the Federal government get its money? From the taxpayers. So in reality the taxpayers paid for the project.
I have done a couple Casino car shows but the entry fee was a lot less and included BBQ lunch. If you watch the news Casino business is way down and they are pulling out the stops to bring in the gamers. I haven't been to Vegas in 3 years but the offers that are showing up are pretty hard to ignore. Free suites, free food comps, free money on your players card, FREE TEE TIMES!, they are desperate for business. If one of them offers me Shadow Creek tee times I'm packing my bags As for the Indian Casinos, they aint after your beads. If I had a group of friends heading up to stay the night at the casino, attend the car show, play a bit and have a cocktail or four, I'd be in. $45 is a bit steep for a tee shirt and entry fee but it could be a fun time! A few hours of Hold'em in the poker lounge on a table made up of fellow car buddies who can't bluff to save their crankcase? Priceless!
