Hahaa. I’ve asked myself that question many a time right before diving off into a project. It’s right afterwards that you find out it really can be that hard. Lol. Seriously though, the 40 in that article wasn’t chopped, but just had the top modified to change the profile. The other main difference is that the 39 top folds up completely different than the 40. It will be a challenge, should I decide to go ahead and chop it. Thanks for the link though, as that was a pretty interesting article. They definitely improved the looks of that 40.

 

I saw this video of a 39 Merc that was chopped 2". The guy claims that when he got it, the chopped top was ugly and he fixed it. I'm thinking the top would be similar to a 39 Ford.
Might want to contact them to see what they did.
