Ok, a crappier car equals more starting points? Yet maybe less chance of finishing? Interesting. You won ? Kool

Congrats! Thanks for taking us along. I opened the spreadsheet and you were the only finisher? Have a nice cruise home!

Maybe the reason he won is because the judges saw that picture....? :D

Look up Sierra Vista, AZ on Google Maps satellite view. I doubt there's a blade of grass within 100 miles of there.

I live in the little town south of Sierra Vista, AZ. It is monsoon season (rainy season). The grass and weeds are thriving. Then it will all dry out and become an extreme fire hazard.

on the last day of the rally, Jeff usually only keeps track of the scores of the top cars. This really, he had some trouble saving the spreadsheet. So we'll probably never see the final scores. But you can go to each teams Instagram page and look at their pictures and hash tags, and add it up yourself. I haven't had time yet.

I Jace an appointment to meet up with some friends in LA in the morning.

I'll try to post more pictures when I get to my hotel.

Go back in the thread and see how many miles it started with. In June 2023.

That's an awesome picture! Going down the highway doing 55 miles per hour and 55,555.5 miles on the odometer!

Turns out Jeff did finish (most of) the spreadsheet.

I just got to the hotel at Valencia CA, then will hit the road in the morning after some visits.

Long hot ride today, says I went 936 miles. sheesh, that's a lot. I finally put the top up after I got a bit too much sun.

Yes I saw that as @Dick Stevens posted the link to it in his post above. You really cleaned them up as you gave away 500 points to the Saab and 100 to the Hudson but were top scorer on Saturday and very close to the top scores on Friday and Sunday. And the Saab and Hudson came 2nd and 3rd respectively. Well done and I love the pic of @squirrel in the rooster shirt.

  15. Well done, Jim! Well done.
Tough man and tough car .

    Be safe.

Congratulations! Looks like a fun event and a great road trip. Nothing like traveling in an old car, especially an early Corvette. Next, I think you should find a buddy named Buz and do Route 66. :D

I'd like to put forward that @squirrel 's avatar be changed from member to long distance member.
I don't know of anyone here that piles up the miles off the clock like he does.

My first real car was a '62 Vette, owned it for 13 years than sold it for down payment on my first house. The furthest I ever drove it was 400 mile round trip back home, congrats on your trip, hope you invested in a set of Radials!

Almost home. 140 more miles. I stopped for gas and got a shake to cool me down.

This was a few hours ago.

Congratulation!!! Sounds like you had a blast.

  24. Great Googly Moogly! That makes the low 90s and humidity around these parts seem almost tolerable. :(

But I guess this means that if the 'Vette hasn't overheated yet, it never will.

I went from Georgia to Arizona in August a few years back, temperature in Arizona was upper 90's to low 100's all that week. It felt great! Only had to take one shower a day.
