Some years back there was and hopefully still is a shop in Kansas that specialized in 6v alternators and 12volt conversion parts. I seem to remember the name being Cherry Street or Cherry Avenue something. I can't find any reference to it on the web so it may be long gone and forgotten. Anyone remember what I'm referring to??

About 6-7 years ago I bought a 6v pos ground alternator from an old guy working out of his garage. In, or near Iola IIRC. I learned about him at the Chickasha swap meet. Prolly got his card here somewhere, but I've moved and can't find anything.

Hell you sound like me! The shop I'm trying to remember had a catalog and seemed to be a small but real business. My memory is just nearly worthless

Classic Auto Electric is at 401 North Carrie in McPherson. Does a lot of work on gauges/radios/clocks but the owner is a retired professor of automotive restoration and automotive electronics at McPherson College and sez he supplies service and products for classic cars. Might be worth a call.

Above is the shop you likely are thinking of,as Leon said. It appears to be in business run by Randy's family. Give it a try. The alternators are still listed as are a lot of parts.

That's it thanks, I don't know where I came up with Cherry Avenue but at least I had the Avenue part right. Sorry to hear that he passed away, he seemed to be quite knowledgeable on the subject. Thanks for filling in the blanks for me

  10. There used to be a Cherry's alternator shop in OKC on Eastern, just south of Crooked Oak about 15/20 years ago...might be why the name came up
