About 5 miles to the north was the Mandalay Generating Station owned by SCE. I worked for SCE 28 years starting in 1967 in a traveling work crew in Power Gen Maintenance. When out-of-town working at the station some, like me, would rent houses for the 2 months of the job and many I did were in Hollywood Beach. Usually 3-4 guys and we could easily make it with our daily per diem. I always brought my old Dave Sweet 9’-6” surf board for after work rides.
