Art & Inspiration Sitting and Rotting.............picture thread

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Royalshifter, Jan 31, 2009.

  1. This is the kind of stuff that intrigues me. A rare 42, bleached out and sitting. I really hope someone will save it and put it back on the road. Very cool.

Spotted this sitting and rotting a couple months ago where it had been sitting for about 40 years and then drug it home yesterday.

From the local park ... I have no clue what it's from ... some fifties Austins have similar-looking grilles but on this thing the thin connecting bits are angled, not horizontal ... but maybe they were horizontal once upon a time, as the five broken stubs above look more horizontal ... not much to go on; it's cast muck metal ... calling on 34 GAZ ... but maybe it is from an Austin. 001 - 1 for editing.jpg

  11. Austin 1946-47 A40 Devon/Dorset grille is much more curved. I would say 1948 Vauxhall. I had one of those Vauxhalls about 15 years ago. Straight 6 too. Funny thing was the chassis stopped just before the rear doors . Rear leafsprings were mounted to the floor.

Sorry for the crap picture, but I don't want to creep on the guy's property.
This is a 55 or 56 Ford that has been sitting in this spot since way back before I was trading Garbage Pail Kid cards with this guy's daughter in second grade, and I'm 47 now. It has never moved. It's sunk to the rockers. Nice light blue and white combo with a darker blue interior. It's rough, but not as bad as I would think it would be after sitting for so long. I know people have tried to buy it from him, but it is still just sitting there. Guessing he's got some sort of emotional attachment to it.

After kids come along, time sometimes gets away from you. Im dealing with that right now.

This is the truth! After 3 kids, a wife working opposite shift from me and trying to get back to school my hot rod/car days were over for awhile. But it all worked out in time. Good luck with it Maverick.
