The only thing I know about the 50 Ford steering box is the bolts are pron to rust out as I found out on a mountain road a few years ago. If you have a 50 Ford with original steering box, check and change the mounting bolts
Look real close when you find one and before you buy it. It’s sometimes pretty easy to stuff a rack in an early car. It’s a whole different thing to not end up with a lot of bump steer, turning radius problems, and steering column modifications.
On the shoebox we had, seems like there was a Volvo steering gear and conversion kit that worked with the other original steering parts? That kept it more like original but with a better steering gearbox from what I think I remember.
