@Roothawg i found one local. It’s $350 dollars Canadian which is comparable. I’m not sure that will fit either. I will know more tomorrow or Wednesday. I need to finish moving the motor around first.

The paint in the 70s was a lot of lacquer paint and candies. We would paint the whole car a solid color like white, silver, black, or whatever gave us the shade we wanted and then applied the candy paint over it. The undercoat would affect the final shade of the candy paint. Yes the T looks like it was painted white and then had passion purple candy applied over it. It would brighten the purple considerably being applied over the white. The more coats or thicker it was sprayed would change the shade of purple. Larger flake was usually added to the 1st final color coat when we sprayed it and the finer the flake, the closer it was to the top coat of color. Lacquer almost always had clear on top to make the paint look wet when done. And you could sand both the color and the clear with lacquer between coats. Did a lot of hand rubbing of clear lacquer. Lace would look great on a T bucket.

Picked up some nicer valve covers and a nice vintage Edelbrock C3B dual plane intake. Need to find a chrome oil fill tube. Buddy hooked my up with a beautiful old chrome 57 Chevy cast iron water neck. It’s been on a shelf since the 80’s 4275BFFD-6116-4FAD-B6E5-9209D0CC29E8.jpeg 78B3D6BA-F67E-40F3-B326-1754BAB5A070.jpeg

A little part of this part that has been burning holes in my brain since I cut out the sides of the cab. I used the scrap pieces to build a surfer style scoop. I wanted one with an air filter . This uses a cheap chrome base and a CJ7 filter. Seems my kid used the chunk of 1/4” aluminum that was going to use for a lid.
Really fun project. Needs several more hours but I’m out of time for today.

Well after several different boxes and tries of things I have the steering figured out. I’ve been busy with less than fun family stuff lately and have had lots of time to think but little shop time.
I’m going to run a reversed mustang box with the pitman pointing down. I mad a bracket today and it will fit. I will hopefully get the front link mounts done tomorrow and double check the geometry and reverse the box. I will need to clearance the block a bit. (You can see the felt pen line)
I’m going to run through bolts as well as weld on the box bracket, cause I love stainless acorn nuts.

Got some shop time in today. got the front link mounts tacked on. Got the truck rolling on 4 wheels and spent a bunch more time on the scoop.
I definitely need different springs in the rear. It’s it’s pretty good but needs a touch more rake and a way softer spring rate. It doesn’t move at all. Not ideal. 02130114-1DEC-43CD-AE86-82E334BDCF46.jpeg 22518AB5-B96C-47D9-9D3D-FD019E76C4FB.jpeg AA7E6127-E054-455F-B663-826DD3F1E654.jpeg 3F3009BF-A9B4-47F3-88AA-EDE4EC496B66.jpeg

Needs a dropped axle and different fires. Radials suck.

I hope I'm not speaking out of turn, but ANY alternative to a Corvair box would be the better choice. And, just for shits and giggles, have you entertained cross steering with a Vega unit ? They are compact yet strong units. Every Model T and '35 through '48 Fords employed cross steering, so it would not be considered "new wave" !

no Vega box. I like push pull better than cross steer on a hot rod. Beside packaging a Vega box with the axle out front is going to be tough and ugly. A reversed mustang box should be fine.

I made up some plywood floors for mock up. Shoehorned the seat in, it fits so tight I swear I was going to have to lube it up to get it in…
The column is good angle for a mock up. Ergonomics are very traditional T . Cramped buy not uncomfortable.

Well I guess that’s why the steering box was cheap! Some dumbass spray welded the worn area under the needle bearing….
I turned it down and will replace the bearing with a bronze bushing, probably better as the it will be well above centerline and would have a tough time getting grease in this application. Going to put a zerk up top so filling it’s easier too. A wide grease groove should assist with lube delivery. Fill er up with NLGI 1 5% moly and we are off! 9CFE7A3A-27C7-4CD2-9641-00F74E9A029B.jpeg 3988BCEB-F65D-43E6-BB68-0FDDC1A020A8.jpeg

Dago, there were a couple posters who wondered what happened to old show cars. There you go!
Let us know what works best on cleaning up old chrome without messing it up.

Tin foil and Windex works good on old chrome. I've had good luck with Zephyr also.

Steering box reassembled with a new bronze bushing and filled with NLGI 1.5. Couldn’t find and 00. Not a lot of call for corn head grease on an island, found lots of waterproof marking grease though… Digging the purple colour . IMG_2231.jpeg

Go the new box sides bead rolled. The OG ones were too far gone. Hopefully get the tops bent up and bottom rolled today.

purple over white fade with a white frame and suspension is the idea. Black interior and roof top. Might have to rethink the frame and paint it black. Not sure on that yet.
