Point of entry was the fuel pump tower, valves are not only in great shape but this engine I have discovered was rebuilt! Copper headgaskets, no sludge in the valley. Imtake gaskets relatively new too

Just found this thread and thought I would add this to the splicing frame discussion. Guy's a little hard to understand.

Excellent! Man he really went into it! Thats about what I figured from what I have seen and experienced. Id say in the end, correctly cleaned and beveled surfaces and good penetration welds without voids are the biggest key factors

Tex Smith used to say, on "z"-ing(& other mods/cuts) chassis rails, that "the most important secret of cutting angles, is not the angle, but that they are exactly the same on each side.". Works for me, & this of course, *assumes* good clean welding.
The angle-cut aspect could also possibly have transferred over from aircraft tubing joints, since the ones I've seen are angled.

The carryover from wood repairs makes a lot of sense to me. Studying Chevy wood repairs and some stagecoach work many years ago taught me about scarf joints. But tube steel & solid wood don't work the same.
    The car is looking good.

Modifying a 35 master shell to try and make it look a little more early 30's. 20240521_094151.jpg 20240521_094146.jpg
I pie cut the sides taking about 2.5" out at the bottom and completely removed the chin. It will lose about 6" off the chin and get it reshaped a bit 20240521_101220.jpg

Thanks Six! Has a ways to go still but keeps with the theme of the car..."severely confusing without explaination"

Most mix & match bodies have a mix & match look with pieces out of proportion and of different styles. This one on working for me.

Thanks! That has been a primary goal of mine. To make it look like a hot rod made from a factory car enough that folks scratch their heads tryin to figure it out

You can see the leg on the left is the final product minus paint of course. It is also getting a bigger and thicker top plate.

Here is the basic idea for those who dont want to watch the video. Take a model a front set of bones. Rob the yolk and add it to the rear bones!

    Today I got this far!
    20240603_154314.jpg
That was before deciding the bushings were toast and the bushing hole on the drivers side is ovaled. The rear wishbone needed shortened an inch as well.... so its all apart again and parts have been ordered...one step forward ten steps back. At least it will be right!

Started boxing the frame today. 20240605_192829.jpg Got the front brakes all rebuilt and wrapped up, rears need some parts 20240604_105805.jpg
Also got the rear wishbone wrapped up and the rubber ball on. Checking things off the list! 20240605_122045.jpg
I put some standard shackles on and am waiting to see... so far I think the front looks too high now. Wont know for sure until the rear is in place and can push it outside and stand back to get a good look

Progress all over, rear end is in, spring packs together, rear bones are attached and seem to be working how I wanted. New bushings and shackles om the rear. Starting to come together! Has definitely had its share of struggles but that was somewhat to be expected with a car as outside the box as this one.

    Hey, Oliver;
W/the open-driveline, are you sure those 'bones are strong enough? They weren't designed to take the loads like that. Or did I miss something in the "beefing/reinforcement(s)" plan?

Opps, sorry for the fat-finger name-misspell. Missed it before posting.
Anyways, what I was concerned about was the axle-wrap on accel & de-accel forces on the 'bones. I don't remember any torsion-bars-application(s). Guess I don't read/remember well, but I'm interested in what/how you're going to use them. Not a slam on your build, serious curiosity. I love seeing/studying "different" suspension systems & applications. My favorite(non-IRS rear) was the converging-trailing-link-2-arm suspension, 'till I came across Andys' 3bar & subsequent explanation(s). I'm really liking that for a whole lot of reasons, since it seems to work real well w/an open diff, in controlling the forces equally.
