Solobo, man you are awesome. I hope Ryan is seeing all this history unveil on the Hamb. It is amazing how the Hamb is and how small the world can sometimes become. I never new a week after having this car that I would be able to be in contact with three of the previous owners of this car and that they are still around the same town this car came from. I will try to call Jim Ross today, thanks so much for the number. It gives me goosbumps when I look at it. I can just feel the soul of the guys that raced it. Any pics would greatly be appreciated, I would love to get copies and can make new copies for whoever donates them. Thank alot and please keep me updated since you are so close to the se men

Thanks so much for spreading the word

  4. This is awesome! If it were mine I think I'd eventually restore it to it's former racing glory, lettering on the door etc... (because it sounds like the paint and rust are a little beond leaving as is) Get that thing going and take it for a spin!
And I can't wait to see vintage pictures of it in action! Sweet!
    Keep us updated!

That thing's gorgeous ... I'd run it as is. That's as good as patina gets. :D

WOW! How could I miss this post originally!. Congrats, late but deserved. This is really exciting. Finding out as much as possible about the car and its history makes for such an awesome story. As soon as the vintage pics start showing up, it will reach superstar status. Any thoughts of letting TRJ help dig out info for you. Seems like they have a ton of contacts through all the history stories they run. Keep up the detective work and get rid of all those "customer" cars, this one needs some attention! :)

  13. Great story....and it came from my town! Hey, guess who has the perfect engine for your coupe...."Small town speed" is selling the 1960 Poncho 389 I built for my 41 Poncho coupe and it's never been fired. I dumped a ton of money and work into it and as a 1960 block, it bolts to the early 4 speed, dual range ['55 and '56] Pontiac hydro tranny....
Good news? Smalltownspeed live in Texas....think it over.

This story is richer and sweeter than dark chocolate. I keep checking back to hear the latest...Getting the former owners involved is only adding to the depth.

I can't wait to see some of these early photos...

How cool would it be to get 2 or 3 of the former owners to lend a symbolic hand in getting her going again? That'd be a really cool pic, too!!

  21. I keep thinking how cool it would be to have photo of the smile on the original builders face when they see that car smoking its hides sideways down the street....

I met a rodding pioneer/hero of mine a while back, and have since become good friends. He's in his mid 80's, physically, passion and desire of a 21 year old, and the look in his eyes is priceless whe we talk cars. Thumbs up, keep at it, let that car live....

    Cheers,

Killer read. I am a big fan of Pontiacs, so I am glad to hear you keep the theme. I grew up to stories about racing told by my Dad and his friends at the kitchen table. This story may just as well top one of his. Thanks for posting this up and expecially get a pic of the owner in front of it once it's finished.
