Im looking for suggestions of people that are killing it in Texas right now. More specifically people in the art side of the auto world. Pinstripers, Illustrators, Art Car, Crazy as Paint jobs. Dallas, Austin, Houston all work. Wanting to shoot a mini-doc for a auto brand. Any suggestion? Thanks in advance Jones
The art car museum in Houston can give you a lot of info on all the artsy side. Otherwise, depending upon your timeframe, the Lone Star Roundup in April-Austin-will have the rest of the stuff-pinstripers working the show, and lots of vendors, booths, etc.. that can furnish a ton of info. They come from all over. Good luck.
The best thing that you can do for what you want to find out is go to events and look at interesting work and find out who did it. Just about every indoor show and a number of bigger outdoor shows have pinstriper corners where regional pin stripers work on projects Some might even be striping a car that is in the show early in the show. At out doors some stripers work their butts off all weekend doing cars from out of their area or doing fresh cars that are out of the garage for the first time. I'd rather take a car to a guy's shop and leave it and let him do it at his own pace but for a lot of folks having their car striped at a show is a big deal. Some have no one in their local area that is good at it.
I had the dash board of my '55 Handyman pinstriped at the Lone Star Roundup by a young man who went by Kool Hand Luke. Don't know his name, he just put a small KHL at the bottom of his work, very nice work!!
This was done for a customer's truck by an airbrush artist in Houston. His name is Don Bruton, instagram is db2_Paintwerks!
