Don't know much about them so here goes. I was at the junkyard today and i saw a 59ba flathead and toploader trans sticking up on a flat bed. when i got closer i saw a banjo rear beside it. The rear was an open drive w/juice brakes and it had leaf spring pads on it.Any idea what year it is and it's value? I asked how much the guy says 200 for all of it. deal or not.

If that rear is an open (u-joints) instead of a closed (torque tube) , I'll go halvsies. I need/want the center section for my project.

Caveat: if it is a 1/2 ton and the guts aren't shot

If it were around here, I'd be buying it at that price! Then again, I'm the guy seriously considering spending my vacation money on another A body.............and cancelling the vacation to work.

I've got just a bit less in an 8CM flatty, overdrive trans and a '36 banjo rear .................. and the rear was a freebie! Sounds like a decent deal to me.

If it's a half ton, three speed trans, it's worth the wad no sweat.

About 5 years ago I paind $300 for the same thing. Whole drivetrain from a '47 1/2 ton. Motor was a later 8ba and would run, and the rear had new shoes and drums on it. Trans and rear were open drive.
