I want to delete the hood side panels on my Banger. I do not want to use straps to keep the top on. What have you used?

I don't have photos, but I just put rods in the hinge. One forward, and one back, made a block with a hole in it on the firewall, and on the grille shell. Screws for a "handle"and a spring between them. maybe $25 in the whole thing

I’ve run using a bungee cord hooked side to side underneath, worked fine and can’t see it from the sides.

  5. I had Rootleib make a hood top to my specs. Dzus fasteners are quick and easy, and well within the HAMB perameters. I don't see why you couldn't imobilize the hinge and mount the stcok hood top the same way.

I used a second model A hood for donor pieces to extend the hood, picked up a pair of 32 Chevy hood sides. The Chevy sides length work but the upper hinge will need to be cut off and rebuilt. I’m using a 2” chopped 32 radiator.

Thanks for all the great ideas. I was considering Dzus fasteners but wasn't sure they would work, now it looks good. I also like the sliding pins.

This works well if you have the bungee cord go beneath the radiator support rods when it goes across to the other side. You just hook it into where the hood rods were and it holds the hood top down and it doesn't show.

I have decided to go with the Dzus fasteners. Does anyone have pictures of how they mounted the springs on both the cowl and the rad shell?
    Thanks
