Dont know who will know what a pierogie is. Love em. A little local flair from Schuylkill county.

 

A pierogie is a Jewish delicacy that’s made from potatoes ( yes, potatoes) and filled with either meat, cheese or in some cases vegetables and then boiled in hot water and served with a sour cream based dipping sauce.

 

But how do you pronounce it?

 

It’s pronounced pieroshki in the Jewish language.

 

Around here it is mostly Catholics, Polish, Lithuanian, Ukrainian, Irish, and it is pronounced Per-ro-gee. Keilbasa is also a local staple. https://www.kielbasy.net/
