Just as Rock Radio always sounds better on a sunny day so too does Gasser Racing always look better on a sunny day. Unfortunately, Saturday was not a sunny day in central NC. Nevertheless, the SEGA Championship finals at ShadySide Dragway did not disappoint. There was a dry period between noon and 3:30 during which qualifications were held and I shot a few pics. Then the rain started and I'm not sure if the event was completed or not. Even under these less than ideal conditions the racing was great and I'm already looking forward to next season. Herewith are some pictures from the event, sorry I don't have captions.
The rain pretty much put a stop to racing about 4 PM Saturday. Here are a few from Sunday when things resumed.
A/ G, Leslie Horne, The Chick Magnet, B/G, Colby Welch, The Moonbeam, C/G, Tim Hall, The Scalded Dog, and S/S, Rick Varner, The Dirt Man were crowned 2022 Champions. Lots of great racing, met some fine people (talked briefly with Magnus Carlson from Sweden) and met some other fans that had to experience this Outstanding group of racers.
Hey @catdad49, thanks for posting the 2022 Champions. I left before trophy presentations and I'm ashamed to admit that I had lost track of who was leading the points race in the various classes. I try to follow SEGA closely, but am easily distracted. Didn't know you were there, would have been nice to put a face to the name.
Tom, one of these days we will have to have meet up. Stephen Smith and I have been talking back and forth for years and I would like to think that we have formed a certain kind of friendship. I recently talked to him about a meet and greet type of thing at the races especially for the fans who also have a membership. I guess nobody has brought that idea up, but he said he would mention it to both Quain and Rocky. Who knows what will transpire, but I know most of those people already have Plenty on their plate. I have Never met anyone at their races that wouldn't take the time to say Howdy or answer a question, just a Great group. See you next year, Carp!
SEGA is #1. I've been following since day one, and are internet friends many of the drivers... would like to be able to drive to Shady Side one day. This is Gabriel and wife Katy ... his Model A is awesome!
That is pretty cool, I would have thought there might be more spectators. Seadog is it alright to share the images to folks that would enjoy them?
