Happy Friday! Here are a couple wood coasters I sketched on and sold at car shows.
The coasters are so small, it's tough to get all the tiny shading and detail in without too much bleeding.

I think this roadster turned out pretty cool, though!

This '50 Chevy I drew live at a car show in Flint, MI.

Old Ford flathead engines, can be very interesting, in how they are adapted.
Saw this one at the Mount Vernon Swap-meet years ago.

    Hello,

In the very early years, going down Coast Highway was the only way to get to our known surf spots in South OC. Starting in Long Beach, we drove down Coast Highway through some great surfing spots, with the idea that it was a little better, farther South. The 100 mile round trip was always rewarded with some of the best surf from those old days.

We used to cruise by this old gas station/repair shop in one of the coastal beach towns, as the highway was the main source of southern direction travel if one did not want to take the busy freeway. The coastal drive is a lot nicer, has better scenery and less hectic traffic situations than going 70-80 mph, dodging those that are in such a hurry to get some place. We knew almost every gas station and restaurant along the route.

This old 1939 Dodge was always sitting on the property calling visitors to stop and look. It did have a great front end and look to the overall sedan. So, I wanted to see how much it would take to make a cool looking hot rod from the days of limited custom modifications.

So, the sedan definitely needed a new look as far as stance was concerned. The overall 4 door sedan was lowered, a slight rake was added, and the tires/rims were able to fill the wheel openings. The final thing was a minimal chopped top was added to give it some attitude.

The stock roof line was ok, and the suicide rear doors gives good access to the rear seats. But the proportions seemed a little bulbous. So, with a few inches off the top, The suicide doors still are part of the picture and continue to give good access to the rear seat passengers. It now looks like a true hot rod custom car for the family cruises all over So Cal.

  10. I thought I'd have a little fun this week. I'll bet I'm not the only one here who can envision themselves as qualifying to be in the driver's seat.:D:D

  20. Pinned #1.. slick..

Port Adelaide Roadsters had their 60th Anniversary show on the Port wharf 2 Sundays ago. This '36 was hot- rodded in '49 in Port Adelaide. Very rad cam in the '40 Merc. Nitro black lacquer is extant. Everything that didn't move was chromed. I saw the August '55 red/ black/ gold piping vinyl exposed one day in 2010 by an accidental Prepsol spill (which swiped a hastily added all-over black vinyl paint 'touch-up).. Rad. 220925C&C2.jpg 220925C&C1.jpg 220911RPA60REVS6.jpg 220911RPA60REVS5.jpg

Has a lot of the body shape of the 53-56 Ford pickup. Grill work just different.
