During WW2 ,chromium was a priority material whose use was relegated to war production only.

No one remembers the name of stock original Willys owners... but everyone remembers the Gasser Legends.

^^ Chris Wells @ BMV Engineering (Yandina) has amazing metal shaping skills. Being an Ozzie body it has the visible 'A' pillar between hood and door.

Am I seeing things? Looks like the OP car has 40 ford headlight rings compared to the rest?

  10. Sadly no. But I remember it was still wearing a faded orange paint job and had the factory 4banger in it.

  13. I grew up in the town (Waseca MN)this coupe was for many years. Al Sharp had a small mechanic shop and it sat on the corner of the property. In the summer he would drive it home for lunch. then park it back in the same spot.

  14. Little know, less cared about fact; pre-war Willys could be ordered from the factory with optional 671 blown hemi, Olds Dual Range Hydramatic, narrowed Olds rear end, 'Vair steering gear, tilt 'glass front end, 5" riser blocks on front axle, Halibrand small kidney bean mags. You know, dead stock.
