Outstanding! Love the 1-2 chirp. When do we see a video with gramps behind the wheel?

My heart skipped a beat when he backed out and turned and I saw those Lancer caps.

The Carter YH's were known to problematic, a Bad Rapp, as they were used on a lot different engines and marine usage. Only Corvette used a lower float setting and it caused flooding, an old timer told me to raise the float 3/8", no problems since. Did this change nearly twenty years ago, so check a YH carb kit information sheet that will show you the other carb float settings, go by them, not the Vette number.... dyno Dave

Use the original Carter spring-loaded fuel valves a.k.a. needles and seats, rather than the cheap aftermarket solid valves, and there was no problem.

6 cylinder Corvettes did not use high mounts like a C1 V8

I dont think the frames were the same as a 53 chevy, just the front suspension.

That 301 sure sounds snotty and I like it. The chirp going into second is a nice touch also!

As much as I love the 235 six cylinder and the original car-I gotta say this is awesome. Especially the smile on your grandpa's face driving it. Better for it to be engine swapped and driven than stock sitting in a museum or collection as a showpiece...

That's all too cool, It doesn't look like too many actual alterations were made to the car during the swap either.
Dialed in right that carb setup works pretty nice, I had one on my 57 panel that I then put on the 283 in my T bucket.

Now you just have to hope that Grandpa doesn't get a rash of speeding tickets.

Exhaust is now on and the car sounds 1 million times better. Just as soon as I got the chance to rod it around on my own I got a quick lesson in tire blowing procedure. The drivers side front tire blew and left me along side of the road. But how many 17 year olds can say they’ve blown a tire on a 54 corvette in the last 50 years though? New radials are now in the works. Winter has now arrived will slow us down though on driving and I will resort back to my
64 Chevy to drive every day until warm again.
    Thanks,
