After 60 LONG YEARS my Dads 29 RPU is going back together again. How did we get here? well heres his story... After joining the military in the 1950s Dad went over seas to serve his country and while he was over there he had a 1929 RPU sitting along the house waiting for his return. A small problem occurred the family needed money and sold the truck- (BUMMER) some of his most memorable times came from his ownership of that truck, and growing up with Mentors like Wes Cooper-Kong Jackson- Frank Curtis- Yam and Fum Oka and a long list of others, he needed to get another one as soon as one presented itself. Around 1960 Dad found a very similar truck to the one he had in High School and bought it. Being the dedicated guy that he is with a strong dedication to Family- Work- Friends, spare time and money always seemed to get in the way! Fast forward to 2022 BOTH his 1928 MEDLEY coupe and his 29 RPU have been sitting side by side not seeing the light of day for the better part of 60 years and I made a promise to him WE are going to finish your projects! Here we go again! Pictures to follow- Love ya DAD!!!!!

Dean- It appears that you were running around in the general vicinity and time frame my father was. It was a great time to be young and a Hot Rodder/Racer. Most of Dads friends were building, racing Flathead A V8S and 265 Chevys but their cars were always breaking things, rear ends, transmissions, engines etc so they were always working on their cars while Dads 4 Banger always could be trusted to get them where ever they wanted to go! That was the 50s and some dont know but Wes Cooper and Kong Jackson were a couple of Dads Mentors. Do those even exist anymore? Anyways around 1970 Wes Built a really special 4 banger for Dad which he installed back then and still sitting in the frame rails, waiting its turn to roar to life, with its Winfield equipped little Banger. Winfield was Coopers/Kongs- mentor/ friend . It has been a long road to get here... but with the help of a good friend it is under way!!!!!

Thank You- I /WE count our blessings everyday that we have 4 generations of Hot Rodders..... Racers that can enjoy each others automotive accomplishments, whether in the shop , car shows, or the races we dig it all, if it goes fast and we are involved in its construction. Our cars span over 90 years but there is something special about each of our automotive dreams.

A few updates on Dads RPU- It will run a Wes Cooper- Kong Jackson built/ prepped 4 banger that he got from them so many years ago. It is running a Winfield Red Head, Winfield cam, race intake manifold, Stromberg 97 carb, ported and relieved, inserted mains, and a few other go fast goodies installed. A 1939 trans, with Lincoln Zepher gears and synchro's, coupled to a fully prepped Columbia 2- speed rearend. Pictures to follow..... this build that started around 1960 but is going back together in 2022.

Not really too much to add on its coming back to life yet. A dear friend of ours is helping this bucket of bolts become the storm trooper of years gone by. It is anxiously, awaiting its turn for some loving that has forsaken it for over 60 years and will take some pictures as this deconstruction begins. It wont be a modern chromed, painted, polished trailer queen but more of an authentic 1950s Hot Rod .The way a young man, built things with what was available to him, parts, money, friends, etc. Keep you posted!
