Those of you who cancelled plans to go to Louisville because of the forecast rain should not have been so hasty. While it rained some each day there were never any serious storms and more dry weather than not and the intermittent showers kept things a bit cooler, so there was plenty of time to check out the HAMB qualified cars and the swap meet and when it did rain a bit the inside exhibits of cars and vendors offer shelter to those afraid to get a little wet. Even though the forecast did call for rain me and my friend "Duck" left Knoxville for the 250 mile trip to Louisville on Thursday morning in our roadsters neither having a top, although we did carry motorcycle type rain suits if things got really bad. We got to the destination without precipitation or other problems. Our hotel was 30 miles from the fair grounds and we made the trip each day without getting wet all though on Thursday we pulled under the hotel canopy just as the rain began to fall. We also made it home on Sunday with only a brief shower dampening our spirits. All in all our 700 mile roadster adventure was great fun, I have always felt that real roadster pilots don't need tops and if the top is up then your driving a soft top coupe.
As many have complained the late model crap they let in these days a bummer but rather than bitch about or deride it I just ignore it and move onto the next HAMB qualified car. One thing that is impossible to ignore though is those damn electric scooters, I realize that some folks would not be able to participate if these were not allowed and that's understandable but when I see able bodied or just plain lazy people clogging up the aisles and pathways it just pisses me off. But like the OT cars I should just try to ignore them also. OK bitch session is over, here are a few of my photos from the 2022 NSRA Nationals 20220806_143303.jpg 20220806_155755.jpg 20220806_133845.jpg 20220806_160254.jpg 20220804_140712.jpg 20220804_140719.jpg 20220804_140717.jpg 20220804_140756.jpg 20220804_141259.jpg 20220804_154226.jpg 20220804_154248.jpg 20220804_154722.jpg 20220804_155947.jpg 20220804_155955.jpg 20220804_160529.jpg 20220804_160540.jpg 20220804_160811.jpg 20220804_160911.jpg 20220804_160918.jpg 20220805_083607.jpg 20220805_104625.jpg 20220805_110343.jpg 20220805_110445.jpg 20220805_114745.jpg 20220805_114755.jpg 20220805_120337.jpg 20220805_121114.jpg 20220805_122944.jpg 20220805_160125.jpg 20220805_160520.jpg

I agree with you about the scooters
Damn things were everywhere and 1/2 of them looked to be piloted by able bodied people of all ages

  7. Great photos indeed. Only problem now is ya got me wanting to attend, thanks alot. Lol

  8. Great shots, Gary. You picked all of the great ones to showcase for us. Also, you and your pal are now certified "Roadster Boys". And, long distance runners at that........Don.:)

Thanks Don I humbly accept your certification as a roadster boy, but I don't think a little 700 mile round trip qualifies as a long distance run I will reserve that classification for guys like my good friend Jim Barillaro who is returning from a 4000 mile round trip to Bonneville in a roadster with no top.

After talking with Steve and looking at issue 85 I truly believe Rodders Journal is back. As for the sedan in the background it belongs to Jack Troup and it is "badass" with no further work required.

Great seeing the shot of Bobby Owens beautiful '32, it is a true masterpiece of a restoration. I saw it at the GNRS this past January and it is magnificent. Plus Bobby is a great guy and now a member of the LA Roadster Club.

I enjoyed reading about your adventures!
I'm afraid that with modern automotive conveniences people have forgotten that traveling has always been a adventurous experience.
