  2. OK I changed the front jets to 68, put the quick fuel plate in the rear and put 72's back there. Put the carb back on and it ran like pure microwaved dog shit. So I finally gave in to temptation and switched it with an edelbrock I had laying here.... damn thing runs like a raped ape! No issues whatsoever. With that said, my venture at trying Holley again is done. Guess I'm too damn stupid to make one work lol... 20220707_152847.jpg 20220707_152856.jpg

  3. Lloyd, don't feel like the Lone Ranger, I have fought Holley carburetors my whole life, I honestly believe they are made for the guy that races more than drives on the street or the guy that just loves tinkering with them.

I made the switch to Edelbrock mainly because I want to drive and not screw with carburetors, I tolsd a friend of mine that the last Holley I had loaded up at a red light ,backfired and caught on fire, it burnt the paint of my hood before I was able to get it out with my Tshirt.

I also told him I was going to tape a dollar bill to it and throw it in the lake, that way I could say I threw something away. HRP

What was the Holley size vs the Edelbrock?

  5. Gotta switch to a one piece driveshaft, and get some lexan in the doors, gonna run the straight axle mafia race here on October 8th. Gonna throw a plate under that carb and hit it with some nitrous :D who cares, my good friend @scotty t is bringing a 454 to London, meeting me at the Sega race, this hell-camino is about to go wild! (Sorry I'm in the pool drinking :D) 20220707_191354.jpg

I thought 409’s were dump truck motors and 454’s were motor home engines

Well, if they can make a dump truck or motor home move under their own power, they should put either a shit eating grin on Lloyd's face or the same kind of streaks in his shorts! either way it sounds like fun. Nothing beats cubic inches, Larry

No, 440's are motor home engines. Because its always a Dodge, isn't it @VANDENPLAS?

  13. I just wanna run under 7.50 lol... it'll take a little while to build this new engine, I didn't realize how expensive big block shit is! Might as well build a Ford at these prices! Lmao

  14. @Lloyd’s paint & glass I’ve got a 427 almost done, you’re right about bbc=$$$

454 is chicken feed, you should build a 409 if you want to break your piggy bank.

    ^^^^^ Around here it's best to refer to them as 293's 324's 346's 364's 376's and least disagreeable the 427 :D

    I believe one could build a 354 for less than a 409.
I personally wouldn't waste my time on a 348. Maybe I have to many 409s.

One of them is kinda nasty, made 750 HP. Said to have powered the first X frame Chevy into the 9s back in the late 80s. :)

  24. Little update.... car is running good. Bought a set of 781 heads for the big block, they're at the machine shop now. Soon as I meet up with Scott and get the engine home it'll join the heads.

Scotty please tell me you didn't sell Lloyd the one that looked like it had salt water in 3 of the cylinders...:p

  26. 3-4 sleeves and .080 over that block will be pretty good, the crack isn’t very noticeableo_O

  27. Wouldn't surprise me one bit, that's the way my luck goes on case you haven't noticed lol
