    Thank you for adding me!
Last night on a whim I googled DSS and wow!

I worked for Steve Kantor at Douglas Speed and Sport on Fenton Street, Silver Spring in the 1980's! What a blast this has been reading all of the memories.

I remember working there and every man that came in there eyeballed me. They didn't know that I had been well versed as a child about racing cars and such by my pops(father). He had a '68 Hemi Cuda that ran 8's at 75/80. Her name was Tar Baby, I have no idea why.
I wore ridiculous clothes in there, leather miniskirts and big hair. It was the 80's! My father Cary was good friends with both Steve's, Kantor and Novick. I used to sit on the lawn and watch pops rebuilding cars from childhood. Then he got his hands on a '71 Plymouth Satellite and I was in love.
I only have one pic left of it which makes me sad. My pops rebuilt that thing (frame off) and it roared!
He wouldn't allow me to drive it while he was alive. He knew that I have a lead foot! When he died I inherited her. I got that car up to 120mph on a local highway and it felt awesome! View attachment 5441076

I love classic and antique automobiles and love to hear stories about them. My pops was the typical mechanic with 3-5 cars in various stages of repair in the driveway and on the lawn. I loved getting under the hood and learning how to fix cars. My first one that I dabbled with was a '76 Merc Cougar with a 351 Windsor. I did my first head gasket change on that beast and it was insane. The car when I bought it was around 15 years old and the head gaskets had never been changed! It took me hours to scrape off the old ones!

If she hadn't been wearing a miniskirt, I wouldn't have been married to the same woman for the last 54 years. Welcome from beautiful downtown Cleveland, TN ;)

  29. It seems everyone from MD now lives in FL or NC. I grew up near your hot rod shop and bought a few things there. Dated a girl that worked at a hair parlor on Fenton. “Rape of the Lock” who the hell could ever forget that name. :)
Did you go to Blair HS? How about the swimming hole in Sligo Creek off Rt.29?
