You also need the special main bolt that has the threaded portion on top of the hex head to bolt the pickup to to support it. Or you might make a bracket that fits under the head of a normal main bolt to do the same thing. The pickup is too long to not support it somehow.

  2. You are correct. I forgot that part.

The top photo shows the CE mounts for a sbf in a 40 with a beam front axle. Notice that it uses biscuit mounts and the adapter plates for the engine block are flat plates.I should say appear to be flat plates. I would think they could be fairly easily duplicated .

Has anyone used this kit #CP2203? Will the steering adapter plate allow use of the stock box or do you have to go to the saginaw box? I called Heidts who now owns Chassis Engineering but the tech guy I spoke to was not alot of help. Some of you guys have done this swap. How did you deal with the steering box?

The early 49-62 Cad goes in almost as easily as a S.B. Chev.

the chassis engineering steer box adapter bolts to the factory bracket holes for the stock box then the saginaw box bolts to the adapter . I ran a monza box on a car & I thought it worked well I have used all the parts you are asking about but not on the same car

you will need an 85 mustang 5.0 5 speed distributer if you have a roller cam. that is the only one that is correct..it seems to me that there is an exhaust outlet on the later model heads that needs sealed by a bolt. if you have the right c4 an aod flex plate will fit and be balanced correct.if not your flex plate will need balanced or replaced with an after market one

Keith, I need some help. What mounts did you use? Did you have to modify the firewall to get the motor far enough back? Were you able to install the engine and trans as one unit? Does the front of the oil pan overlap the front cross member or sit just behind it? I'm really struggling to make this fit. What did you do for steering? Your advice and patience will be greatly appreciated.

  20. I made the motor mounts to bolt on the front of the heads and bolt to the crossmember where the flathead bolted. Oil pan sump is in behind the front axle. The firewall had been replaced by the previous owner to clear the chevy HEI distributor. It currently has a vega steering box. I am going to replace it this winter with a Borgeson 525.
Below is a cardboard template I made and used to cut out the metal for the motor mounts. It is a very easy installation. The SBC I took out had block headers that rubbed on the top of steering box and made the starter drag because of the heat. I have none of those problems now.

Plenty of clearance from the steering box.

Is it possible to use a mechanical fuel pump with front motor mounts?

I have a 5.0 oil pan if you need one

  23. I didn't take that into consideration. I'm running a electric fuel pump. I would think with a little planning it would be possible.
