Found this in my customers garage. They didn't want it so they gave it to me. Sometimes you get lucky

 

MAYBE FOR ONE OF THOSE "ORIGINAL" LOS ANGELES CUSTOMS PLAQUE.....

 

I'm too young to have been around during the club plaque era but looking at some of these prices blows my mind. I wouldn't pay $400 for a club plaque if it came with a photo of Marilyn Monroe hanging it on the back of Elvis' Cadillac.

 

Just so you know the value of your plaque, I'll post these that sold on eBay ...

 

I love the guys on E**y , that try to pass off new recasts as old ones... and put a buy it now , with a crazy price...

 

These are all asking prices , probably far more than they'll get !

I often wonder if there are some tips young guys could pick up from these guys with successful careers that allow them to have "disposable funds".

Pretty sure he means there were a couple of parties bidding on that plate who were willing to pull teeth to afford it.

 

By "dentists" I meant two wealthy guys who collect Hamb era memorabilia must have been fighting over it. Could also be Hollywood plastic surgeons.

I've worked on a few 'rich guy' cars and if they want it, cost isn't a concern. It's more like "where do I get it and when will it be here".

Nostalgia cost $$$ and folks have a way to get more and more for it nowadays. It’s like all the speed equipment that we cherish for our hot rods and trim/body items for the customs we drive.

Unfortunately it’s the reality we have to deal with wishing that “if we had just kept that”

 

The price on these items just keeps going up. I'm guessing someone really wanted this one ...

 

There's going to start being some recast ones posing as originals (if it hasn't happened already), at these prices.
