Rhode Island finally lets you register vintage plates for your vehicles. Not sure how many other states allow it.

missouri does. they're called "year of manufacture" plates. as i recall, you have to clear them with the DMV before you can use them, and i doubt that you can buy plates from one of those sites that offer "new" vintage ones!
That's what the are called here in South Carolina, there are certain restrictions, the are letters and number combinations that they will not approve, a photo of the license plate needs to be sent to the DMV at the state capital, Columbia, South Carolina for approval. We have them on both cars. HRP
Paul in CT, so you can use Y.O.M. plates on your car, but the state gives you new, modern plates, that you must keep in your car? Sounds kind of odd.
I grew up and lived in RI for years and always hated how we couldnt run old plates. It was one of my favorite things about moving to CT. Now maybe I'll have to move back haha
