ED8CA3D3-F368-4AB4-8E4B-85776E168147.jpeg In my daily travels i see a lot of cars and trucks left outside to rot away, most of these owners when asked won't sell, why let a vehicle rot away then to sell to someone that will keep the car or truck inside and restore if needed???

Sad, but ultimately, be happy we have private property rights. Yours to do with as you please

My truck sat in my driveway for over 5 years while life got in the way. I put a tarp over it to protect in as best I could.
I cannot tell you how many times I came home to find someone had removed the tarp to check out the truck. Many
left a number either on the door or with my tenant to buy it, even when told it was not for sale. The truck is now
moved into the garage I built when I moved in with my better half, the patch panels have been installed, a small
block/m20/explorer rear end, dropped axle/disc brakes all installed. So just because no progress is happening on your timetable does not mean it is abandoned. Engine fired
    for first time yesterday.

I can’t find the photo but my wife’s aunt and uncle have a late 40s Pontiac silverstreak two door fastback sitting in a shelter belt. The uncles dad and the uncle both had offers to sell the car but would not. Last time I was out at the farm a huge branch fell across the car crushing the roof. This car is not my thing but it is very kool looking, now it’s really nothing more than scrap steel.

I have lots of cars sitting in my yard waiting to be either built or sold but the good thing is they do NOT rot here! Now, if they have upholstery the sun can get that but not rust.

Edit: Here is one line of projects at my house not rotting! All Dodge Brothers and all but the left one are 1927. Left one is a '24 (with '27 running gear!) Yes, some are for sale.

We already have a years old established thread for this that's 100's of pages long ("sitting and rotting"). Why start another new one?

I had an OT Buick Roadmaster stashed behind my rental property waiting for the time for me to strip it of its drivetrain. My tenant told me that the druggies were shooting up in it so I called to have it hauled away.

  22. Yeah, I had a new neighbor contact the building and codes enforcement here in Anderson to complain about my yard art, ironically it can't be seen from the man's property and is on alot surrounded by tress yet he felt it was a eye sore.

I had a man show up at my house to see what the problem was, he was nice enough but was out here to serve me with a notice to get rid of the junk car on my property, as we talked about cars I took him into the garage and showed him my old cars and he produced a couple of photo's of his British sports car he was bring back to life, he then told be about the wild life federation which gives a person a pass when you set a area up as a wild life habitat.

A month & 20 dollars later, I had my permit and the jerk neighbor was told to pound sand. HRP

  26. Don't have a photo but it still hurts my heart when I think about it. All during the 50s and 60s there was a '42 Willys Americar coupe in a grass field 200' off Plano Road just outside Porterville CA. Just sitting there with full trim, in the weather. Had to drive by it nearly every day in the school bus or when mom went to town. Painful. The old guy who owned it lived in the field in a 800 sqft shack right next to the car. Herefused to even talk about the car. Luckily the Central Valley of Calif doen't have weather so the car wasn't rotting at a very fast clip. Never knew what happened to that car.

I know there is a related thread already (linked a few posts in) as a kid I’d tag along with my dad where he hunted, somewhere in the valley above where the New Melones dam was built.
The “ranch” was I think, about 20k acres (been 50 years) full of dead gold mines in the side of mountains, mining equipment and so many dead old 20’s-40’s cars and trucks just off the side of the dirt roads throughout the place.
Every time we went hunting or shooting, my dad would take me ina new walk/ride looking for a vehicle I could shoot the gauges out of with a SA Ruger Bearcat.22 with snake shot loaded in it.
Over the few years I was old enough to go, I know I went through 3 or 4 boxes of shells.
All that history (and cars) under water now.

Edit: have tell a story about that place. Throughout the whole place was mine shafts going into the mountains, next to the entrances were these metal doors that were heavily barred up.
We used to gather old bottles and cans and shoot them next to one place that was, I guess, close to where we came in. Anyways, my dad used to always pop a few rounds off into this metal door with his .270. Never got through it. He took his .06 with heavier grain bullets, no love.
During this time I had two cousins older than me, my dad had set them up with reloading equipment, my oldest cousin (who couldn’t get through the door) set out loading up some shells and came out once with a new gun (no idea on caliber) and some loads he’d made up. I wasn’t there, but I guess they were able to get through the door. Then set about to shoot the the bars that had it held shut. They got it open, my dad said it was full of dynamite and blasting caps!
My dad was thankful it wasn’t air tight!
