You should upload this to the photo shop thread and have someone remove that stupid barrel and maybe the telephone pole behind the car.
I'm shocked the photographer didn't at least move the barrel so as not to distract from the car.

    Great stance on the car!

  3. There is a rubber plug under the dash that comes out so you can access the hood latch if the cable fails. I've only opened mine maybe 1000 times over the past 7 years.

The '58 to me has cool features, like the grille and hood and the ribbed roof. I've seen those roofs used on other cars,

One of our Moderators @Moriarity is not a Ford guy but Kustoms is in his blood. He'll appreciate this when he sees it.
You should take it to the Custom Car Revival in Indy this summer.
    Check the link out.

I think the 58’s and 9’s are the most passed over option for a custom or kustom depending on your spelling preference. I love the hoods and the headlights from the factory. This is coming from a 55-56 Ford guy.

You gotta bring it to Indy this summer. You’re too close not to.

Great car, I like the paint colors. I bought a '58 Ford convertible new, now have a
'57 Retractable, never a problem with the hood.
What's under the hood? My '58 had a 352 Interceptor Special.

    Welcome!
I have never been a fan of the '58 except the hood. Yours, I have to say is very attractive. It's got style.
I originally voted for you to ditch the lights, but having your daughter involved changes everything. Tell her I said "great job".

  16. My neighbor years ago had a '58 Fairlane 5-door, red and white. A nice car considering they were dirt poor.. poorer that we were. Well, they throw a rod in the thing one winter. They got another piston, rod and bearing... and the block had a chunk out of it at the oil pan rail. That was fixed with plastic steel. They never got it running again.

Great car, my father had a Fairlane 500 when I was a kid. It was painted the same colors as yours. I drove that car when I came home after basic training and tech school. Then gave to my sister who destroyed it, when I left for Vietnam.
If your daughter put those lights on the car, they have to stay on. You cannot disappoint her just because " lights aren't traditional " It's great to get kids involved in these cars. Way too many kids show no interest in this hobby which is sad.

I'd let her glue on sea shells for sure. Maybe just in this spot though - ok. Family fun with a K!

@BouncingBenson nice ride. What's the rest of the details? Drivetrain etc.
When the family is all in on the project, it all goes better

I dig it, but then again, I dig them all !!! Just think how few customs and hot rods there would be if they all fell into the same mold.... race day.jpg

Welcome aboard from Lexington, KY. Beautiful car, love the story about the family build. Been seeing some nice cars and Coffee pics from Dawson Springs too, would love to make it out to one. Do you ever attend the Somernites cruise in Somerset? Great monthly show.

Welcome aboard Rob, Looks like you are Blessed to own such a sweet ride. '58 Fords make a kool mild kustom. Kustom owners have to have thick skin. Build it your way (or your daughter) that is what its all about.

I'd like to see ore pics..... Looking forward to your post.

  30. Welcome to the HAMB Rob. Love the car ( it’s hard not to) . It’s good that your daughter is showing interest in cars, who knows maybe she’ll build one of her own someday.
