I have always loved that art. From when I wax a kid back in the 80s seeing it at the autoshow and not being able to afford it .

Great sleuthing on that Fritsch built Merc. stanlo69...... I recall the very article seems it also made the cover of Hot Rod at one point, very fitting since it was a tow vehicle for the Koborg 34 Ford & tdog has massaged the 33 back to life.

Briefly saw Tom at the Wahoo swap meet in Oct. & most recently with the family at the Papillion Winter Wonderland evening Christmas lighting

He blew the rear end racing some bone heads back in august

I believe he’s prepping for California trog and building a new motor trans and rear for the car

yup, it was a three wheel motorcycle that someone painted the bubbletop to look like pacman. I removed all the pacman paint because underneath was a pretty famous custom trike

  13. I'm wondering when you begin the teardown to bring this car back to show car status? I really want to see it super nice. It deserves it in my opinion which ain't worth spit really.

I think you need to realize the car pretty much wears the outward appearance as when it raced early on & may well be Tom's goal, we shall see going forward, neat in any form I'm sure you agree.

  15. I understand that. I've met him at Bonneville, and we took pictures together. Great guy and I even sat in the car. I just think it so badass it deserves to be back to its pinnacle of glory. Patina and original as found are great but so many cars could be so much more.

Agree wholeheartedly that the car could be so much more, be it super detailed, polished & massaged to perfection, or all the fore mentioned & chromed to the hilt, but then I'm reasonably sure the latter is not what you're alluding to as the beach & Bonneville runs make for corrosion & hours of clean up labor. For the most part the Midwest was more grass roots racing & while the 33 doesn't have a ton of team logo's or advertising to preserve, for that reason it could conceivably emerge with something totally unique to Tom's family roots & South 'O' racing history & those helping along the journey.

I've drank beer and ate chicken wings while sitting close to the 41 Studebaker (Quaker Steak and Lube in Council Bluffs, IA) referred to in the video....I thought it was a neat car but had NO idea of the story behind the car. A great story!!!

Yeah...prior to the Studebaker the South Omaha clan ran a 40 Ford sedan, lost track of its whereabouts believe it was partially parted out however.

I think @Rocky has mentioned the 40 before.

I don’t think the car was ever a show and shine chromed out car but I’ve seen photos of it painted and nice. I guess we’ll stay tuned!

  20. Yeah, a couple of South O boys have resurected the 40. Uses a 392 Chrysler hemi. They have run it in competion this way but are having new-car bugs to work out. I took some photos of it at Joe's house/shop. The Stude is cool and I believe they've reached their 200MPH goal. Rocky, that's their licensing engine on that car - 354. They have an Injected 392 for it as well if they ever finish it.

  22. I will argue that the 33 is an awesome car. I wouldn’t be against making a clone car - could even be fiberglass for those that need shiny, but leave this one alone. My opinion too doesn’t mean spit.

Looks like Larry Cain hiding from the Bonneville sun under the umbrella.
