Technical manual disc/drum master cylinder selection?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by alteredpilot, Apr 11, 2022.

  1. I have a '32 ford pick up here with a chevelle rear end with drum brakes and a speedway disc brake drop axle front end, but it doesn't have a master cylinder on it. Interested in seeing where you would start with bore size for a manual two pot master.

    Thanks in advance.

I have a 7/8 bore mater cylinder on my disc, drum setup... With the right pedal ratio it works very well.

This has been a go to for manual disk/ drum brakes for decades.

My 32 has wildwood front calipers and 9 inch rear drums ,I have the 1 inch corvette master .If you have single puck big piston calipers the 1-1/8 works better. Also you want around a 6:1 pedal ratio for manual brake

  8. Thanks so far. I have a wilwood 7/8 laying on the bench. Guess I need to crawl under the dash and figure the pedal ratio.

7/8” Wilwood and prop valve was my choice. 87307BD5-ED84-46D9-9709-FA21B9EB2EE7.jpeg

  10. See what bore master the chevelle had, then try and do the same for the front calipers, it might just point you in the correct direction of a common size for the two.
