Not sure what you are saying. You mention a hinge, and lifting the cover from the dash. A couple pictures of what you have and what you want it to do would help a lot. Will it have a knob or handle to lift/open it?

  5. .Your inquiry is a bit confusing. I think you are trying to use a glove box lid hinge to convert your speaker grill to open. Is that right?

Dang for 65 bucks for the above mentioned I don't see any reason to try anything else.

On a similar note-I made the radio stock block off plate hinge up on several 40"s and put either a stereo or an AC vent. The 40 glove box hinge was close but not quite right-a 34 glove box hinge modified works well-have done quite a few that way.

I bought one of these for my 40 coupe project but decided not to use it. For the kit to look finished as shown in the picture you will have to do some welding and body work . The kit was fine I just decided I didn't like that the speaker grill had to be lifted up. I would have preferred to have it drop down. If it did drop down the speaker grill could have been used for a cup holder ( when sitting still!). It also would have been easier to see the radio and work the tuner. But since most radios should work by a remote that really should not have been much of a problem. No I didn't keep it. I sold it to someone else. In retrospect I should have used it. I mounted my stereo behind the seat under the package tray and it is a pain in the butt to get to.

  11. I also used a box made by Dean after wasting time trying to fab one. It
worked great, I put all air & heater controls out of sight. Good product, Just
    follow the directions.
