We used to get it on syndication after school in the early 80s but I don't remeber that one. I was more into Hogans Heros that came on after it!
Always watched that when I was home sick as a kid. All those cool old shows were in syndication then...
A lot going on under that air cleaner. I bet the scene went like this: "All you do is work on that darn car." "Get out of here!" My favorite Bradly sister.
Hello, Here is a fairly clear shot of the RPU from Petticoat Junction. It says it is a Model A RPU, but has a 32 grille. It looks to be Buick powered, so for the time period out West, it was those Tommy Ivo Hot Rod Era cars used for TV shows and movies. Someone in that group must have more photos or knowledge of the build. Jnaki It is funny to see old TV shows from that time period. The set up, location and funky dialog is not what it is today. But, something had to get its early start back then. And, we all watched whatever was on the current TV listings… I Love Lucy, Bonanza, Ozzie and Harriet, etc. Times certainly have changed…
I watch them every chance I get....METV...FETV...RETROTV, etc. They are all still running....Even "The Real McCoys"
28 or 29 Ford roadster P/U with a SBC and 32 Ford grill shell, seald beam headlights, aftermarket Spoked hubcaps that were expensive back then like $200 a set, and the windshield off to make it easier to film.
See... right there. A perfect example of vintage media that as a young boy, had me believing that anybody could have a hot rod. Even Lumpy had a flipping hot rod for god sakes. Certainly, I'd have a 3 window Deuce Coupe to drive through High School and on. There should have been a disclaimer. "People who can barely afford a cow do NOT own hot rods." Only very industrious people with special skills in particular circumstances have hot rods. Or those with rich parents. I'm mostly kidding. Tongue in cheek. But you know what I mean. LOL
I sure someone will have something distasteful to say about it having a SBC in it. I knew a wise old man who often said "If it fits - then run it."
People can say what they want, there were tons of hot rods built back in the day with Chevy engines, for good reason, they were plentiful, they fit easily and they run great....with plenty of factory performance and aftermarket parts available...
