Does anybody know of someone who can do paintwork in the Sacramento area? More specifically someone who does it on the side,and has the time. A typical bodyshop will take many months to years. Car is a 57 chevy, already jammed and roof painted, final blocking, priming, single stage painting needed, car is extremely close to being ready for paint.
I've found that most shops will only do insurance work. I guess payment is a sure thing. Go to local car shows and talk to owners; but like you said, it's not uncommon for a custom shop to take a year or so to do the job. Personally, I would not want to leave my car in someone's possession for that long; if it's damaged/parts stolen, will the shop accept responsibility? Depending on the vehicle, the stolen parts might be irreplaceable.
