Thanks Moose. I was thinking about that too. Something about turning ugly cars into gassers that somehow helps knock a little ugly off the edges.
I like all the renderings. Don't know how feasible it'd be to adapt a Karmann Ghia roof. I'm guessing the metal gauge would be significantly different?

  2. Yeah, we did an exercise here a long while ago. James D's version was so much better.

  3. It sure is...I've always had a soft spot for the HEMI in fact the first hot rod I ever built back in the 60's was powered by a tricked out 1953 241 Dodge Hemi . Here's a copy of the only picture that I have of that engine in my good old 39 Chevy coupe.

  4. I like that a lot...but with all due respect Moose, with your photoshop talents, I'm not sure I can trust your picture...lol...could have had one carb, or a couple mouse clicks later it might have had 10 who can tell for sure...click and drag this valve cover over there and ... well, you know. ;)

I'm anything other than a Mopar fan but that is badass!!!!

  7. HaHaHa Yeah I know what you saying but that one is the real thing and it did have 4 Stromberg 97s on a Weiand manifold and it was also bored and ballanced with Jahns pistons and a Crower cam and fenderwell headers. I used the Dodge transmission that came out of the car that donated the engine which was a 3 speed with OD and also used the Dodge rear end. Back in the day I didn't need Photoshop....It was more fun to get down and dirty and build the real thing. As I said above I only have the one picture of the engine but I do have another of the car side view. If you look real close you can see the header in the fenderwell which were run open a lot of the time :DAhh the good old days!!!!

Not sure if I'm allowed to make requests in here or not.

I was thinking about painting my rims red, sometimes I think some red looks good peeking out behind the hubcap, and sometimes I don't. And sometimes, quite honestly I'm not sure if I'm just doing things to do things and should leave well enough alone.

Another thought was what if they were blue like the interior of the car to tie that in. I dont know, if anyone had any interest in photochopping one or both of those ideas I'll include some pics. and I'll include a pic of the interior for a blue reference. Thanks in advance.

I really dig the blue not that my opinion matters. Subtle splash of color.

Leave the 2 dr Valiant alone. Every change was way worse than stock in my opinion…

I also like the blue wheels on the 55. Doesn’t jump out at you like the red. Less is more…

Haha…the real truck had tan tonneau and interior. Somehow in the drawing it turned red and I’ve never messed with it. Yes the wheels were red. The truck and logo were built in 1990. My tastes have changed in 32 years. But I’d love to have it back and I wouldn’t change a thing.

That looks so much better! The only thing I'd change is to add a proper, chrome front bumper (stock Chev, but shaved).

Wow, many thanks! The shortening and desectioning is crazy! The chopped version has a Jaguar vibe to it.

Would it be too much trouble to show the torque thrusts wheel swap without the chop? In reality if this happens there will be 2 phases involved, with the wheels first.

    Cheers

Hi there again photoshop gurus....I'm hoping one of you guys would be happy to lower this Chevy and widen the rear wheels? Many thanks in advance, Fleet-master

How about a little Track/Modified exercise?

I really like this one as a starting point, particularly because it is a direct side view.

Could someone of several of you do a few mods?
    1. Push the rear wheels forward a bit to cover the wishbone and rear of the body.
    2. Pull the front wheels back until the rear of the front tires is approximately lined up with the grille shell/hood seam.
    3. Do away with the black exhaust pipe and put on a polished tapered header exiting the hood just below the top/side seam. Have it angle slightly upwards toward the rear ending about the center of the rear tire.
    4. Replace the wheels with wide 5s.
    5. Move the steering box up and to the center of the cowl, having the drag link parallel to the exhaust pipe.
    6. Turn the gas tank up on it's side.

And if anyone gets ambitious, try the rear sheet metal from the tub.

Here is the idea using a copy machine.

    Thanx as always,

  29. Not sure these are the mods you have in mind but here's something to consider....
