I'm not that into 4 doors but this was just too cool to pass up. It's really solid. Some patches around the rear dog leg but really solid. I didn't get a pic of the trunk but there is no rust. I don't know that I've ever seen nicer door panels not restored and the headliner is in amazing shape. The carpet is even really nice for original. I'm missing the rear bumper and rear seat.
use to work for fusick olds 25 years ago. one of the neat items was that you could have gotten a hood that the center was clear glass. nobody wanted them. use to have the 'old' guys that restored their cars, then got tired of slow, would call and ask for speed parts for those old v8's.
That Olds is amazingly original and untouched! And looks to be in decent shape as well. These are great road cars. Plenty of power and super comfortable cruiser. I love it.
Sweetnessism. I think that car had been praying for somebody like you to come along with a big jar of elbow grease.
If you have not figured out what the extra dimmer switches are for one is the regular dimmer switch and another is for the auto dimmer and the third is for the wonderbar radio.
I would like to find a deal on something like that close to home. There was recently a 55 Olds 4-door sedan in a local auction that would have been similar. I was seriously considering right up to the point I remembered I already have more projects than I can deal with. Oh, and it went for more than it was worth too...
Filled the carb. Started right up. Goes into gear. We found the below in the car. I think it shows an oil change at 42,000 miles in 1971. I know rust is in also and I'm not going to completely paint the car but it's original paint and the rust will come off. Car shows 44,500 now. I have to think that's original. Someone did some work on it in 2007. There is a Wisconsin registration card from then.
I know rust is in and I probably devalued it by 20% lol. I'm not going to restore and paint but still......rust isn't my thing.
You will not be able to shut the hood completely unless you bolt those braces to the hood,I took the rocket off mine and it would not shut too good until I did.
How are you getting the rust off? I used Ospho on some similar surface rust and was amazed how well it stripped the rust but left the paint considering I only had to wipe it down and keep it wet until the rust disappeared.
Gotta love those old Olsmobiles. Just one question, harsh as it may seem. Have you checked on your frog lately, 'cause that dash top looks real familiar.... Just say'n.....
