Should be pretty common, but danged if I can find it.

Anyone know the oil filter number for early-mid Chevrolet engines that had the can filter, but have had the conversion kit installed and now uses a spin-on filter?

It won't matter what brand you have the number for, they all can cross-ref. Bottom line I need the full size, spin-on oil filter number....that works with the adapter.

    Thank you in advance !!

Fram PH 30 for one style adapter and Fram PH13, Wix 51069, AC Delco PF-25 or PF-35 for the other.

My father had a truck that had a conversion on it. It used a Fram PH-8a. Basically a Ford filter

The Ford/Mopar filter has the smaller rubber seal diameter, Chevy type uses the large one. Both types of filters were used with different adapters.

Look up any mid 60s Ford for the Ford type, and any mid 60s Chevy for the Chevy type.

I have a Trans-Dapt filter adapter and it uses a Ford filter like @oldolds said, the PH-8A.

Crabs, just when you think something is gonna be simple.. I had no idea that there were 2 adapters... I suppose I'll just have to wait until I pull the old one off and see what I've got to work with. So much for buying it beforehand.
Thanks for all the replies fellas...

  7. Buy both at the counter, and ask the guy if you can bring back the wrong one for exchange. That way you can get the oil change done at one crawl-under, and then exchange for the right one for next time.

NAPA Gold is made by WIX.

Just thought I'd get that out of the way.

I think the Napa numbers are the Wix number, minus the first digit

My 66 and 65 small blocks both use the 51069 Wix/NAPA.

  12. This seems the obvious answer. Once you have that number you can search cross reference P/N.

I agree though that it is likely either a Fram PH-8A (Ford V8s, etc), or PH-13 (Chevy V8s); or their cross reference equivalent P/Ns.

BTW in old speak, What you call can, we called canister. Spin on was known as cartridge.

that's the Chevy version. The rubber seal is right at the outer edge of the base of the filter, isn't it?

  16. That is equivalent to Fram PH5, which is same as PH13. Except the PH5 has anti- drainback valve. PH5 pretty much replaced PH13, having anti-drainback valve doesn't hurt if not needed. If space is tight, the shorter PH30 has same mounting. Or any brand equivalent to the Fram numbers.

    Center threads can be different…
