Will a 40 truck nose bolt on a 38 cab without mods? A car nose would be different, correct? Thanks for any help.
I'm not sure what the goal is . You have a good 38 cab and don't like the truck dog house or you have a 40/41 truck dog house and can't find a good 40/41 truck cab? 40/41 truck parts ( light duty pickup) are pretty scarce and usually expensive. I've seen a couple of 38/39 cabs with corresponding car dog houses and they looked good . Hambtown Al has a 40 cab truck with a 36 car doghouse on it. He said it was a lot of work . It's a great looking truck.
The interchangeability of late 30's to 1940/41 pickup parts has been discussed in previous threads. Maybe @Hamtown Al recalls some details.
This is the one I found. It has some of what I did to build mine spread through the thread. Art & Inspiration - Lets start a thread for trucks with car noses on them | Page 2 | The H.A.M.B. (jalopyjournal.com)
Thanks to Hamtown Al for some actual help. All I wanted to know was whether or not a 40 truck nose would bolt on a 38 truck cab. Thanks again!
Normally we would do that for sure but this is a very original and unusual truck which could have been built as a 40. Just a personal opinion but that 38 nose is just not what we wanted however that's just how it is. Thanks
I couldn't stand the grill on my old '39 Ford pickup either...so I Modified the front sheetmetal to accept a slightly modified '36 Pickup grille.
Seen a 38-39 with a 40 front clip on it at the nats north a few years ago. Not sure what they had to do to adapt it but it looked good.
There are some of us who actually like the '38 and '39 truck front sheet metal. Undoubtedly it can be done if you're a good enough metal man, but it's a long way from being a bolt-on. The firewall looks the same but don't let that fool you. I've had my '38 going on 56 years, wouldn't think about changing it.
Thanks again to all, I've been inspired to leave it alone as a 38. It's on the back burner project list so no rush anyway. Thanks again.
