Im having troubles sleeping because currently I refer to this a 1938 American Lafrance but feel as though It should be labeled earlier. Would it be wrong of me to refer to it as a 1917 Speedseter with a 1938 AlF V12?
Or what would you call it?

Got the front brakes in order tonight. Rebuilt both wheel cylinders. New hoses. New copper single flare brake lines!!! Fucking gorgeousness

  6. Are they plain soft copper or Nicop? I would not trust copper tubing and on any vehicle copper will not pass a safety inspection. I do not want to see any one hurt due to a brake failure when the copper blows out from pressure and brake pressures can be in excess of 1200 Lbs. Per Square Inch.

They are real copper. The copper nickle didnt look right.
If i was planning on having this car see any real road service and not have a back up braking system. I wouldnt sacrifice funtion for form.

    Yup single flare

  10. Thank you Sir. I just wanted to make sure that you were aware of the serious safety issues of using copper. I agree that it will and does look great especially when polished but is and never was designed to hold the kind of pressure that a hydraulic brake system can generate.

Cunifer tubing looks close to copper but has a higher burst pressure then steel. All early Chrysler Products with hydraulic brakes used copper. Copper is illegal for inspection in PA.

I just wanted to thank you for doing this thread. Reminds me of another speedster thread by yonharr. Not sure of spelling. It was a great read also..

Question, the 999 racer back on the first page has no steering wheel, how did that work?

Finished the front lines and master resivoir plumbing. She holds the front wheels by hand. I capped the rear line for now. Ill attack them after retro rewind.
Cunnifer is much lighter in color than copper. If this master cylinder is ever pushed hard enough to build enough pressure to burst this tubing than something else is terribly wrong.
The 999 had a tiller steering set up. It pointed wright at the drivers chest lol 20211229_195244.jpg

  14. Thank you @animal18324. There is a very big difference between "copper" and "https://cunifer.com/". When you stated "They are real copper." it immediately threw up a safety hazard that I would not want to see you make. Cunifer on the other hand is safe for brake systems and you should be OK as far as your brake system is concerned.

Still would be concerned about the single flares for anything but light use/display. but that's JMO.

The lines are xopper not cunnifer. The look is more important than reliability to me.

It's not going to be a daily driver and if I ever attempted something like the great race I would probably make some reliability enhancements such as an all metal fluid resivoir and steel lines.
That said I will be doing top speed runs and some vintage racing with it.

I played around with it running yesterday. She is an absolute beast! I ran it in gear as well to check how much vibration the trans to diff adapter will cause and it seems pretty stable.

That project is really coming along nicely, a cool name painted on it, in a very cool font would be,
" CHAINED LIGHTNING " I am sure that @Stogy ,could do a really nice mock up via his computer skills, on the back of the cool gas tank !

If someone else doesn't beat me to it...I'm not at my creative station at the moment...the name is fitting...

  27. Love the look but I would suggest taking a little more slack out of that chain. Looks loose enough to jump the teeth.
