Just offering up an opportunity to have everyone with a AV8 project to stop by and say hello and talk about your AV8 triumphs and questions or experiences. I'll have my Tardel book with me, so lets cuss and discuss what we're trying to accomplish. Tips and tricks about Engine mounts/ steering issues/ transmissions/ brake pedals/ etc. Bring pics and or whatever and we'll chat it up.
Stop hesitating and get started on your traditional AV8 build.

Looks like a great idea. Wish this was available 8 years ago. I would be driving mine. It takes a lot longer if you just read the book and use trial and error.

Hey, that sign pointing to a Modified F1 Crossmember... is that a fresh piece? As in, do you make and sell that?

Big time thanks to Larry and Kim and the whole Showdown crew for another great show.
Also for the weather holding off as long as it did.
It was great to meet the folks who stopped by to talk about their AV8 projects and questions.
I learned a few new things and I hope that I was of some help also.
The people really are what makes all the long hours getting ready, travelling, setting up an tearing down
worth while. Thanks again to everyone who made this weekend great.
See ya at the next one.

Those rear spring hangers are cool. Have they been test fit on a car with '46-'48 lower shock mounts popular with AV8s? I cut stock spring hangers off an A rear axle and used the two bolt holes to align it just like this setup.

The problem is the rear bolt eye pushed the shock mount too far inboard and the spring shackle bound against it. I had to disassemble the whole thing, cut off the rear bolt eye and weld it in place to allow the shock mount to slide outward enough to avoid hitting the shackle.

  14. I'm trying to imagine what you are meaning by rear bolt eye?

I have stock Model A hangers on my '48 Merc rear end, with the lower shock mounts also. I made up an inch spacer to space the spring hanger inwards on each side to get the same distance as an original Model A rear end. I haven't had any clearance issues.

I did do some trimming on the shock mounts though to originally fit them to the front, which i found didn't work.. so i think i have some 10mm spacers too. Can grab a picture if you need it mate.

Dave, thank you for your yearly donation of a set of bomber seats to the museum. We will probably raffle them off at the fair this year since neither of us had time to get to it at the show! Thanks for your never ending support!!

according to his profile, Dave hasn't been on this site for three years....so he ain't gonna see your request....

It's a good idea to check the date a post was made, before replying to it
