Did this crazy ass Jeep ever see the light of day?

I want to know what happened to it.

....I think it was a cool project.

I have used jeep rear ends myself. They are plentiful, and are very narrow. Plus many have the early Ford bolt pattern for wheels.

I always liked the idea of a Jeep HOT ROD... there was one around town when I was in high school. lime green. sat pretty low. this was around 1975.

I saw one made out of stainless steel a while back. 4WD though.

You also have a mighty bitchin' motor there. I love the power pack heads and your intake is very cool.

Don't know how I missed this for so long, but take a look at some of the ice racing equipment. Folks tend to run older jeeps with spiked tires and lots of engine. (No lift, no lockers, some of them lowered and non flexy, various states of body work.) Slap on some real rubber (and maybe swap in a different front axle) and some of these would be real terrors on the pavement.

I like what you are doing with it. I have always thought it would be cool to slam one, instead of lifting it, and you are certainly going in the right direction. Please keep us posted on your progress. I believe it will be something terrific to DRIVE.

A stretched wheelbase and a yellow paint job would make it a clone of the Holy Toledo funny car. I think that Brian Chuchua and AMC were the culprits.

I seem to remember a funny car called the "War Wagon" in the early days. Did pretty good before aerodynamics mattered.

  25. Crow, don't worry about being heckled, it seems that most everybody loves it. Thats the benefit of the Hambers that "think it is different" and "not the same old thing". A handful of years ago, you would have been chased off the site, now your project is welcomed with open arms.LOL In parting, do yourself a favor and light that pile of shit on fire and crash it into your garage. You should wear a helmet and firesuit for your own protection of course.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!! Criminy!!! I neglect the HAMB fer a few months and disappear into bike world and look what happens. Never thought this old slug of a thread would come back up. InDaShop, it was there, it was just buried under H1 engines.

This is actually quite timely, just a week or two ago I finished an SR500 thumper fer my girlfriend and she asked me what I was gonne do next. I told her that I think I wanna finish my old Jeep project. I have accumulated most of the parts for this thing and the only thing I've spent real cash on was some American 12-spokes. I'm using one of my old rockcrawler Toyota axles, 4:11s and Detroit Locked baby!!!! So here it goes folks, Imma get back to it and I'll keep ya'll posted.
