Recently had a chance to buy the Pocher 1907 Fiat GP car at a price I couldn't pass up. It's an old build that needs a thorough cleaning and some repairs and corrections. This is my first experience with these and it is interesting indeed. It reminds me of the 1913 Mercer Raceabout that I got to ride in/on.
The "T" and H.R.G. were given to me by an old friend. He also hinted that I should be making room for his race car model collection.
The top is chopped and skirts fabbed and fitted to the 36. I decided to cut open the door and am building it now. I have to thin the door a bit. Thinking Cal Custom Candy Blue from my vintage paint stash with white top and running boards. The car has sat for a while now and I noticed that the lower edge of the skirts have warped as the glue cured. I also see sink marks in the fenders at skirt glue points. Too much glue maybe. HAZ just like welding metal panels. 100_3599.JPG

I agree @mchook. IMO this build is certainly appropriate here. Maybe you could contact the moderator to appeal?

Made a bit of progress this week, even though I was building & installing fence panels today.

I got both of the louvered hood sides made up and installed. I almost ran out of quarter round styrene, but Robby came through with a special delivery all the way from down-under...

I decided to make the hood top removable for better access to the headlight/tail light batteries.

I also got a start on the rear of the tub. It will be double wall, so I've got room for wiring to the single tail light.

    Cheers,
    David

PS: Thanks for the nice comments about my dad and his B-24 crew. If the house caught on fire, this photo would be the first thing I'd grab on the way out, right after my bride of 30 years that is...

If nothing else, put something in front of the wheels in your pics.

    Great truck though.

    Hello to everyone,
I have lurked here for a long time and enjoyed looking at many fantastic builds.
I have recently come across quite a few old unbuilt model kits, mostly cars but a few planes, Star Wars kits, etc. While many of the boxes have gotten wet due to a frozen water pipe leak in the basement, the internal kits are like new. I will be photographing the damaged boxes and insides this week and hope to make the photos available to anyone interested over the next two weeks. Not sure how I will be making them available yet, individually or in groups. I am in the Chicagoland area, mailing or pickup are going to be the options. More to follow on this in the next few days. All proceeds will be going for care of the handicapped lady who owns all of them.

    @FastPapers,

Do you happen to have any 1:12 scale kits? If so, I'm interested.

    Thanks,
    David

    Sheez... You said it Deuces.

I think there may be twenty or so active viewers and/or participates on this thread, so what's the big harm to society by bending the rules a bit. Mchook's International project has certainly been a positive part of this discussion, modern/large wheels or not. I hope the Barney Fife amongst us is happy with himself for depriving the rest of us seeing this this build come to completion.

As Andy said to Barney "Better put your bullet back in your pocket Barn..."

@mchook, speaking of that... Why don't you just throw on some HAMBster approved wheels for purposes of posting on this thread, and use your (dreaded) large/modern any other time you wish. I'd do it, just to piss "somebody" off.

Wow rc57...that's the kind of model finds that I love to find....have fun with them.
I have been getting some work done on both Nova projects.
Doing mostly body repairs and parts fitting ...got top side of the bubble topped one smoothed up , getting parts for the cockpit fitted and prepared.
The flat top one got a truck lid installed, then went digging for a hood to replace the missing original one and with all of the parts I have I couldn't find one...so figured I could build one ....well I got lucky....and from a source I couldn't believe...something you will never see in any Hollander parts interchange book.
The hood from a Pontiac J-2000 fits it comes up a little short but if you remove the upper header panel from the nose piece and attach it to the hood its just the right length...of course this would not work on the real thing but it works in this situation. Now just got to fix the hood scoop hole . 20211118_051342~2.jpg 20211118_073515~2.jpg 20211118_051458~2.jpg 20211118_073400~2.jpg 20211118_073002~2.jpg 20211118_072919(0)~2.jpg 20211118_051014~2.jpg 20211118_051602~2.jpg 20211118_051240~2.jpg

Oh great! I swore I wasn't going to buy another kit until I built a bunch that I already have and these new Nova kits show up!!! These look really tempting.

I have a old rattle can of Testor's Custom Metal Flake lime gold....but there's no "Big Daddy" Ed Roth on my can....I got ripped off....it must of been before...or after...his involvement with the product.
Or maybe it was just on the bottled paint....kind of leaves me "Jade Green with Envy"
    Good score....man. 20211118_191600~2.jpg

Hey guys, thanks for sticking up for me. A little about my models... I build models for the fun of it, it relaxes me. When I finish a build I usually sell it on ebay & use that money to buy more models & supplies. That being said, I personally don't care for these huge wheels and skinny tires but that is what came with the donor kit so that's what I used and that's what some people like. I've had luck selling models with these types of wheels & tires so whatever brings me a few more dollars is what it's gonna get. So I found a new tire & wheel company to use here when I post a build.:D I'll change them back to the originals when it sells.:) So here's a couple new pics with new tires & wheels. This thread is probably my favorite one , actually it's about the only one I go to since the big....what ever took place awhile back....I just know it changed things and it takes to much fu?*&$`( around to navigate on it so I go to this one and no further.
Anyways I thought this thread was pretty much safe from the B.S that happens on the other ones....the piss'n and bitch'n that takes place...usually by people that normally don't have any involvement unless it's to bitch and complain.
Sorry they got you mchook, I liked the truck....but I do realize there are rules and there are and have been several models that I have not posted because I didn't want to get some crap started ....not necessarily on me but more for the fear of getting the thread deleted totally.
That's why I don't start a thread for my Studebaker build , the one in my avatar...because it's got non traditional rear tires and wheels....what ever....I don't care..I'm building it for me ...not just so I can be on the HAMB.
Hope this picture of a model T model is OK , even though it has big wheels and skinny tire on it...actually aren't the original tires and wheels tall with skinny tires???
But then the tires and wheels that I have on the model t now are traditional hot rod wheels & tires....about as hot rod as you can get...there made for and come from a vintage salt flat speed racer.
    Ok move'n on....

Lot's of cool stuff posted since my last visit...

I've now reached a milestone. My roller now has a complete body, less the hood top. That will be next.

After I got rear tub framed up, a layer of styrene sheet was glued into place. I decided to add a second layer this morning. Glad I did as the framing pattern was telegraphing through the styrene sheet. The 2nd layer pretty much solved that.

Also added some half round at the top of the tub which carries onto the cowl to form a spear shaped body line.

    Happy Sunday Modeling!
    David

Guys, I'd like to finish up what's been done so far. Been 4 weeks now, still no decals, even though the paper printouts have been placed, some changed for size, still. Kind of tired waiting to finally show the finished car, somewhat frustrated.

Being 70, you get tired of hearing excuses of why people don't do what they promised. This one is on the shelf already, some day I'll show here the finished car, with decals!

For now, with great pleasure, my rendition of a scale replica build, the famous PACERS Fuel Altered, a beautiful Hall of Fame car. I first saw this in a magazine in 1964, yet to see another one that has this color scheme and class.

Many thanks for the approval and remarks.

The model; has a scale 104" wheelbase, weighs 14 ounces! House of Kolors white base over beige primer, Pearl White to coat, with Intercoat Clear. After decals, will receive a 2k Urethane sealer, Show Clear.

    Thanks for looking!

    Mike..
