Like Kabinenroller I too always replace the plastic ones with steel. If you drag race frequently and powershift the plastic ones go away quite quickly. I could never feel any more buzz or vibration even in daily driving.

I don't race it (at least not on a track ;)) but I don't drive it like an old lady either. I'll have to crawl under it, check the bushings and see if they need replacing.

Which dinosaur bones would you like to pick at first? As has been said, these are always a good upgrade: AAF3A3EA-106E-4CB9-9B02-AF77AF6A9FC1.jpeg

It looks like the 1 you posted sold at Barrett Jackson back in 2014 for 4500 bucks....
I wonder if they ever made them with 4 speeds????

This is the Hurst Competition Plus shifter on the Muncie M-20 for my Nova.
I didn't like the shape of the application specific handle and they need to exit the console correctly for clearance so found another one to my liking and modified it.
The tail housing on these cars require an extra set of shifter mount bosses cast in further forward so they also used shorter rods, especially note the reverse rod, the shortest in GM applications.

The plastic T handles were not one of Hursts better ideas. While the two used white 4 speed ones I have are not cracked; the unopened 3speed one is starting to form a crack , without ever having been used! 0555387B-CB7D-4021-B59C-0170ABAE7F3F.jpeg

It's probably sacrilegious to run a Hurst stick on a Long shifter but this $5 beat up Hurst came out pretty good after straightening, heating and bending an offset into it.

  21. Nice job! Hurst used good steel, I've seen sticks reconfigured many ways with the 'ol heat wrench!
@bowie - one 2nd gear hit and it has racing history!

When I got the Hurst Comp Plus shifter for my roadster it came with the short straight Super Shifter handle, I needed an offset handle so after looking over the available replacements I found one but it had way more offset than I needed, a little slicing and dicing got me this.

I’ve altered a few over the years. The one in my coupe puts it just where I wanted it: E403462C-2CA9-4408-AD50-882B8691AE17.jpeg 999957C2-01E3-4E9D-AAED-7AB9FEAD3E92.jpeg FD400040-E17B-4ECE-8D3D-FF0ECF7AEB91.jpeg

I don't see any markings on this, but could it be a Hurst?
It was mounted to a 53 4 speed hydro.

Salt flats: that shifter looks to be a generic wanna be, with a Hurst mystery shift boot ; to me. Denny : I graduated college in Oregon, drank my fair share of Blitz and Oley 3.2 beer while out there. We Usta make weekend runs up to Washington for the real stuff!

My dad was an Oley man.
By the way, did you ever find a 4 dot Oley label?
